« A good compromise »
Published on 09/01/11 at 01:02I bought a pair of cdj-850 dv247 new home for € 1530 TTC in August 2011 (I say new, not used for a few months as some have to find € 1400 and that they pose new).
It's been a week since I use them.
Previously I had a pair of bst 146.
Most:
- High precision jog and pitch, tempo ultra stable, it can remain stalled at least 3 minutes without touching the jog (if you have the right tempo at the start).
- Play / Cue highly reactive.
- Clarity of the display and keys.
- Easy to use, very intuitive platinum.
- Search and read very fast mode as cd usb mode.
- I use a USB flash drive Verbatim 32GB mp3 tracks with 1500 and no crash, looking through the menus very simple, very clear. Usb mode very effective.
- Detection of hyper-fast bpm if the track has not been analyzed by rekordbox (if it was, the bpm is displayed instantly).
- The color silver (I use a djm-700s, the set is too good).
The -:
- The self loops are not perfect and often unusable, although I am in version 1.06. Better to do it manually. We are far from self loops of cdj-2000.
- Display of the waveform along with reading, so no use (unless the track was analyzed by rekordbox, then it appears instantly).
- The master tempo that distorts the sound too much beyond + / -2%.
- The appearance can be a little too "plastic"
The price / quality ratio is very good, although a pair of cd player to € 1,500 may seem expensive, the quality is to go. The CDJ-850 is a good compromise between quality inputs (cdj-200 / CDJ-350) and premium (cdj-900 / CDJ-2000). It allows access to the general budget for a jog just higher than the cdj-350.
Certainly I would do this choice, now it remains to test the reliability over time (since it only been a week that I use), but I do not care, Pioneer's reputation should not be missing this model.
