CDSoundMaster VTM-M2

The VTM-M2 is a vintage Tape Machine that was made by CDSoundMaster. There are 2 different operating models for low and high calibrations. It also has a full session recall (DAW). It was very easy to install and it is extremely small on your CPU, you wont even be able to tell that the VTM-M2 is even running. The interface for the VTM-M2 is very easy to understand and it looks really vintage and cool . It will definitely shock you at first glance, the developers and designers put a lot of time into creating a really vintage looking tape machine. But there are really only a few knobs and buttons that are even functioning.


SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

There has been 2 different updates to the VTM-M2. Now the latest version is 1.2 and I think they have fixed some of the small bugs. The price of VTM-M2 is 179 online and that is a very fair price for such a great compressor plug in. Virtual Interactive Signal Chain Technology is a technology that CDSoundMasters have created and they stand by it. You will get a very balanced sound when using the VTM-M2. I have been using it for a short time, and don’t use it as much as I would like to but I plan on hanging on to it because it will come in handy in the future when I have more time to work with it. It is very stable and has never crashed and can be used on your PC.


OVERALL OPINION

The quality of the VTM-M2 seems great, it will give you a very great sound for your mix. I have not seen the manual for it but I know it did come with one, I just never took the time to look at it because I would rather learn how to use it the natural trial and error way. You will get your money’s worth after about a month of using it and understand it. I am happy that I purchased it and I know that anyone else that has purchased it is probably happy too.

OVERALL OPINION

I tried 4 or 5 types of simulation models and I can tell you my opinion:

Studer A800 UAD (Universal Audio): In terms of quality and versatility, I think it's by far the best, but it costs $ 350. It costs more than 2 times more expensive than the Magnetic and over 14 times more expensive than TB Ferox. I confess that I bought the Studer and I am very happy. But it's too expensive, even if it is the best for my taste. But it has another advantage to owning a UAD DSP cards, the DSP which relieves the CPU. And here I can say that it makes a difference too because he is greedy.

TB Ferox (ToneBoosters): This plugin is a slap for me in second place with the Magnetic. Although Magnetic is a little more versatile, the ratio quality / price is unbeatable TB Ferox. And the icing on the cake: ToneBoosters sells its entire bundle for only $ 20. Thank you Eloquent

Magnetic (Nomad Factory): Very good software. Although versatile and good quality, I placed 2nd with TB Ferox Raport a matter of money.

VTMM2 (CDSoundMaster): I've always been a fan of CDSoundMaster, but now I am very disappointed. The bof bof bof VTMM2 is ... It is a bit too subtle for my taste. It costs $ 79. Frankly, it's best Ferox BD or TDS Ferric. it's not worth the trouble that one.

TDS Ferric (Variety of Sound): This one is gratos It is not so bad, but it is not at the level of the first three, it is not very far. I think he can still make improvements to the bus.

Conclusion:

If you do not spend a penny, take the TDS Ferric and you will not be disappointed. However If you have a little money to buy the TB Ferox ToneBoosters. It costs less than a meal in a restaurant and you'll be really happy with the résultat.Vous can work with those two: Ferox inserts on the slopes, Ferric on the bus.

Otherwise, if you have a card UAD2 and you take the money Studer A 800. It is the most expensive, but it is the best. However I blame him for his value for money that is abusive, when compared to competition.

Considering the price of VTMM2, it does not really worth the shot to take it. It is too subtle. In short it is useless.
