Ampeg GVT5-110
See other reviews. Amp very simple and versatile.
Quality of impeccable craftsmanship. It is heavy (12.9kg) for power. The knobs and switches seem well made.

UTILIZATION

I bought this amp to work on my game at home with a usable and manageable sound (and beautiful ...) and if possible with the least possible settings, just to focus on my game on the settings. We feel 5W pushing but it is quite manageable in volume .... especially through its HP low efficiency (94dB). Handling trebble and bass knobs are made carefully because the sound changes quickly. The active EQ is a bit confusing at first, but we always ended up finding the sound you are looking for.

SOUNDS

Beautiful sounds. A clear fall with a dynamic ever found on current 5W amp sound. Used with a Strat and an Ibanez AF105 archtop ... I clear sound that I want. Originally purchased because my twin is difficult to use at home, even with an attenuator, I found a few qualities that I find the Fender.
The crunch comes high enough volume ... even with the trebble and bass knobs to toc. Also nice crunch.
I plugged it an overdrive Custom Screamer Pro in Techniguitare and distortion Ibanez Tube King. Both pedals going very well ... and what a sound!
I also tried on my 2x12 Twin. So I found the grain of the HP there. The sound was even better with more definition, more accurate bass. This amp is still much room for improvement by chanegement HP and other lamps ... to test.
I would say that this amp is suitable for almost any style.
Those in which I play (rock, progressive, jazz, blues and jazz manouche) is nickel!

OVERALL OPINION

Goodies:
- Portability for small rehearsals, beufs between friends.
- Beautiful clean tones and nice crunch
- Accepts pedals well (for the ones I've tried ...) - to do with reverb or other ...
- The truly effective active EQ.

Cons:
- Possibly no reverb or effects loop like its big brother 15W ... but if we seek simplicity ...
- The HP which can be perfectible ... if we nitpick.
- If anything to say.

This is my amp work everyday and it is really nice to work on his game with this sound! I still can not price this amp ... bought new for € 177 ... it is easily more than double the light of physics and sound quality. No comparison with low-end amps Bugera V5 or type 600 champion .... We are in a different category ... except for the price!

Ampeg GVT5-110
Amp all 5watts lamps: 6V6GT and 12AX7
Celestion Tube 10 hp
Equalisation Bass and Treble Boost also serves + / - 12 db
Otherwise connectivity issue, bein there's next to nothing, only a jack and speakers outputs (4-8-16 in ohms), not in Line-out, headphone ...
The cabinet is constructed of plywood, no chipboard, MDF ...

The amp seems really solid and level of finish is simply excellent (much as the Marshall Class 5 that I had but the vibrations!), It is relatively portable (12 kg), there is more light in this range but its price is also linked to baffle used here ... the amp does not vibrate either!
Made in Korea

UTILIZATION

This amp is bone simple to use but needs to get used to the super efficient equalization, you can change the sound dramatically ...
Central to the Bass and Treble 12 position are "neutral" position, then if we increase the frequency and the saturation increases (it gets a boost or attenuation) is really special but nice and it provides both typed Vox sound or Marshall or Fender ...

SOUNDS

This amp really has a great dynamic, it can go very sharp sounds very fat sound, the sound is "full" I would say ...
I had quite a small tube amps (and modeling transistors), but the Ampeg is my favorite, I sold the other (AC4TV 10 'really good but not enough bass, Gretsch G5222 full but Crunch not great if you do not not change the hp ... laney CUB8 precise enough Supercontrol xd vibrates but clean beautiful ... Marshall Class 5 beautiful sound but too many mediums and difficult to use at home ... Fender Excelsior , but its really nice too powerful for home and it really is huge!).
I recently purchased for the second time a little Gretsch G5222 that I find really nice low volume, to play in the evening ... but I stumbled upon it on thomann GVT5 in promo, I thought that given the low price I had to try it (even if the back did not fit me), I finally kept the Ampeg and sold the Gretsch ... Why?
The Ampeg can get the same types of sounds the Gretsch but better sound quality even at low volumes, more full if you push the bass and when you push the volume the sound is good, not rough like Gretsch, and really pushing the volume was a beautiful drive.
I tested it with a Strat SSS and HH also equipped with Seymour Duncan SH2 and SH4 and in all cases the sounds of the Ampeg are superb course with humbuckers the Crunch comes earlier (the output level of the SD is very high, but even with other humbuckers Crunch it earlier, I mounted Schallers Golden 50 and the result is just as good, the pickups are different but that's another story again ...).
SH4 with the Crunch amp hard and fast as soon as is half the full volume (5w), we obtain sounds hard typed with single coil sound Crunch so much more "blues" ... With the Schaller Golden 50 Bridge, Crunch remains oriented in the blues-rock but with more crunch than the single pickups (Bare Knuckle)
When you push the amp background, Hp remains neutral, it not panic as on other small amps become "draft", but I do not think that Hp is what is best for all It has the advantage of allowing to push the amp and the distortion without having to tear your ears (it is 94 db), so I ordered a Eminence Legend 105 which should allow me to have more clear sound and also more volume (it is 100 db!) after testing I will update the evaluation ...

OVERALL OPINION

I have this amp for 1 month, quite a few eventually, but I will leave a notice as there is very little feedback on this amp on the net ...
For almost 2 years I've changed a lot of amps, I liked the Vox AC4TV, Gretsch G5222, Marshall C5 in small amps ... the Ampeg is my favorite, I do not spit on other amps ( I could buy in the future), but with the GVT5 I can get the sounds of other amps, of course a little differently, but this amp is really versatile and allows for a more "open" than others, it has a real warmth in the low (which may decrease desire of course, the sound is always natural) and the definition is always good ... we can also obtain highly crystalline sounds (if you push the volume there will drive the course, but it is like for all 5w beautiful little and wish is that by buying this type of amp, but here the drive is really singing, I mean very good, the Class 5A also a beautiful drive, I'd say ... tied)
In short, the current price Ampeg is surprising, rather it should compare it to other amps around 400 € (which was the price off promo, but as Ampeg's hard to sell to younger generations who do not know the brand then they sell off ... thank you!).
So I strongly advise buying at the current price, and if you buy do not forget that the knobs on the amp are not there for decoration, they radically alter the sound (and even more when changing type microphones), I read on a U.S. website notice where the guy said he had tried the amp with the knobs to zero (12h), in short, without understanding that the EQ does just everything about this amp ...! !
My opinion is not only linked to the price of the amp is a bargain now, but the amp is really good and is not "cheap" like most other small 5w ... this is a serious amp and Ampeg for me personally this is the history of rock'n'roll as well as Fender or Marshall, just think of the Rolling Stones ...!
