UTILIZATION
Out of box ... nothing to say, excellent.Pour use "domestic" and are widely suffisants.C 50W east of the sturdy, well fabriqufinition impccable.
SOUNDS
Branchde out of box ... very nice clean sounds, very beautiful ... (if one seeks the "fenderien" to buy Fender) if care is taken to fine tune the EQ.
The crunch and lead / crunch offer all sounds good until good overdrive pedal distortion pedal types "mtal." I discarded my Twin Tube Mayhem as the distortion of the rivals without ENGL flinching with the definition and more!.
Truly versatile, its very ample.
This amp as a fabulous home, I throw a look in his circuits in order to bring some changes, without changing its character sonore.J 've just replaced some components by the same (values) but audiophile quality: the ability of a film are WIMA, the ability of chemical PANASONIC CF BURR BROWN OP amp (much better than the filthy TL071) to finish the changes the most glaring was listening and easier to realize: to replace the wire (there is no other word) of HP by the true speaker cable copper / silver.
I did the same with the cable that feeds the reverb (in this case take the cable modulation) and, the reverb comes into its own.
Result: Extremely subtle sonic palette / shade with much wider bandwidth.
OVERALL OPINION
I refer to the model out of box (not modifi.Certainement one of the best ratio price / qualitson.
To round it all I have compared to a SCREAMER: nothing to envy at all, only the button "presence" of Screamer could in some cases get a little extra.
Of course, with ENGL only "problem" is that we should buy more footswitch (Z4), but very practical and very good quality at the sight of some footswitch with "cardboard".
