Are they any good compared to jcm 800 from early 80s

I played with one in the 90s and loved it. I certainly don't think they've gotten worse with age. As always, it's best to go to your local guitar shop and test one out for yourself.
But if it's good enough for Jeff Beck, Slash, Tom Morello and Billy Corgan
, it's good enough for me
