    A small jewelry

Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic TA-30 1x12 ComboPublished on 02/12/12 at 08:00
(This content has been automatically translated from French)
All lamps. 12AX7 preamp and EL84 in power.
Integrated spring reverb and excellent quality.
Modes 15, 30 or 40 W, which allow a wide range of sounds / grains at different volumes.
For group play in an average room, I really like the 30W Class A mode that gives a good compromise between overdrive, head-room for clean sounds and dynamics at a reasonable sound.
I play blues, funk, soul, jazz ... with a drummer who types well.
I push the amp to between 30 and 40% power ... So there is provided, no problem to live!

    UTILIZATION

Configuration quite simple once you became familiar with the different modes / channels of the amp.
The manual is very well done, but only in English…

    UTILIZATION

Configuration quite simple once you became familiar with the different modes / channels of the amp.
The manual is very well done, but only in English.

I would mention only the following criticisms:
    1) the settings panel is upside down, as if you set your amp from behind ... It might be useful in the '50s, but today it is more embarrassing than anything else. This is unfortunate because it is quite disturbing at first but you get used to read backwards.
    1) Channel 2 is very rich in different modes. Would have been nice to split it into two channels separating mode Tweed High modes 1 and 2.

    SOUNDS

It made me look for this amp is its versatility and size / weight quite compact.

Channel 1 is very focused Vox. Type AC30. Crystal clear sound and excellent response to the intensity of the game perfect for playing funk, blues, soul, jazz ...
If you push the gain or if we add an overdrive pedal, it's really crunch.

Channel 2 contains three different worlds:
    - Fashion Tweed Fender Hot Rod type, Twin ... Ideal for crunchy sounds and blues. For clean sounds funky, channel 1 is more appropriate.
    - High Fashion 1: Marshall type "sauce Boogie". A specific attack and sharp but the sound is warm. Good for Rock and also rhythmic solo.
    - How High 2: lead channel more distinctive Mesa Boogie. Its warmer, rich and round with an impressive sustain. One can take for Santana! Perfect for lead sounds, but also excellent for bluesy sounds very creamy. With a Les Paul or ES, it should sound really good.

    OVERALL OPINION

I use this amp for 2 months and I do not really get tired! Each repeat, I can not believe the sound quality and responsiveness of the beast in my game!
I used an earlier Vox Night Train, but the single-channel and no effects loop frustrated me. I found the clean sounds and crunchy Vox with a much higher level of quality. In addition, the opportunity to play with other sounds typed Fender, Marshall or Mesa amp give this incredible versatility.

The price is high, but if you have the guitar level to exploit the intricacies of an amp of this quality, it's worth it! It's an investment that will give you pleasure and that certainly will not lose too much value if you decide to sell it one day.
It is light enough and also very quiet, which is very valuable.

I therefore warmly recommended to all lovers of good music!

    Nice and blue British tone

Mesa Boogie TransAtlantic TA-30 1x12 ComboPublished on 09/29/11 at 20:14
This amp is the same amp as the 2x12 speaker combo but just one less speaker. You get the same great features and tone. However, since you have one less speaker your overall tone will suffer in size a little bit. What I mean by that is the amp will sound a little smaller naturally and the tone will not bloom as much. If you are recording then the amp will not really sound different. This is just for live use.

What will Mesa Boogie think of next? These amps started out as great lunch box amps for the on the go musician. They have been so popular that now they are offering them in a high watt version and in a combo version as well. The tone of this amp is remarkable. With the ability to go…

What will Mesa Boogie think of next? These amps started out as great lunch box amps for the on the go musician. They have been so popular that now they are offering them in a high watt version and in a combo version as well. The tone of this amp is remarkable. With the ability to go from cleans on one side of the amp and kick it over to channel two with the option to have another clean or crunch and even high gain mode is fantastic. Just like the black but just a little blue.

    SOUNDS

The first channel is primarily the clean channel but if you give it a little juice you can get a nice Fender breakup and then take it even further for a sweet Vox Ac30 type tone.

The second channel has a Tweed, High gain 1, and High gain two. It also has a boost function on the gain. You can turn this on an off on any mode. The tweed is a Fender type tone and the high gain 1 is a British type voicing. The final mode high gain 2 is more of the Mesa style lead and rhythm tones.

    OVERALL OPINION

These are great little amps for the money. They aren't cheap but will give you an array of tonal options. At new these amps come in at around $1830. This might be a little on the high side for this amp but still a decent price for what it was.

I would recommend this amp to anyone who needs a good gigging amp that will not be a failure on stage. This is a also a good amp for recording some various tones. The distortion is not going to be anything like a Dual Recto so if you think you'll get that tone then save your money. I recommend trying this amp out first because it is a bit different then the standard Mesa tones you have come to know.
