UTILIZATION

Amp very easy to use: the problem is that it is single channel and therefore, even if the distortion is switchable, the settings are shared between clean and gain.
It is therefore very difficult to find a compromise. For my part I boosted the overdrive side so when I go it's still clear in its crunch.
Solutions:
- Find a compromise (not recommended)
- Use two heads which can take advantage of the excellent quality of this amp overdrive (big sound guaranteed) and the other set to play clean. For me it is the best solution PCQ the price of the head (on the second hand market) is very low and therefore affordable.
- Use style pedals Metal zone.

Small update on 25/01/2006. I am still the owner of the beast. It still works despite the nickel so sometimes damp environment of our local repeats. Not a scratch scritch at the knobs, no apparent oxidation.
I told her assistant for a while now a preamp and a Boss Engl 530 preamp, which makes the animal much more versatile. Get Connected in the back so the EQ controls of the machine are not active.

SOUNDS

I use it with guitars Ibanez RG450, S370 and RG7620. I love the distortion of this amp, much more powerful than a JCM900 that I tested for a month before deciding on this amp it.
I use a speaker at 4x12 Peavey 5150, I also used a Marshall 4x12. The peavey is gaining definition, but you lose a little heat.

OVERALL OPINION

I possess 3 years. It was used by a pro guitarist who changed the config.
My favorite: the big sound that does not bleed, which I regret: it is single channel and not very versatile.
I used a VS8080 before but I wanted to go to the lamps. I have therefore taken the "standard": the well-known JCM900 hardos scratch. Good amp but at disto is not it. A big crunch but not the big sound that kills.
At price / quality ratio I think Laney is unbeatable: 370 euros occasion.
I'm searching for I do not know better.
I would do if this choice? Certainly. Of course I want to try the famous amp Mesa / Boogie, but it exceeds my budget.
