«  Amazing: I no longer amp! »

Published on 07/01/10 at 15:58
Best value: Excellent
head all tube, hand wired with the ability to request a specific sound at the designer.
For details, see the previous opinion or site NOS. That said, the characteristics are different from one amp to another, depending on what the owner asked as options.
My CA100 has tois channels, a fully independent and two clear saturated who share the same equalization (but with each gain setting and volume)
I put 10 because for the price, I know of no other brand that provides this service.

UTILIZATION

No man is an amp setting with all that is classic. However, the functions "rumble" and especially "sweep" that deserve some attention here a bit. Moreover, each knob acts a lot and very accurately, so it took me a while to find my happiness.
I put only 8 because I'm lazy and it took me a while before trying to find my sound.

SOUNDS

I play metal "nice", and it is perfect for what I want. I use it mostly with California and Jackson Hamer SL2H rise in EMG. I guitars also "homemade" rise in Seymour, an Excalibur, an old Ibanez Roadstar, an SG, a Sheraton, and sound of each guitar is perfectly respected: it also surprised me at first, because I never had another amp that respects this guitar.
The clean sound can be very clear, but I do not use very little. The distorted sounds are very rich, very "full". You can put a lot of gain without it turning into mush: I summarize by saying "it's own sound nag" LOL.
The sound on channel 2 I like a little better because less loaded treble, less sharp. I use it in rytmique, and 3 solo. The effects loop is perfect, and I put my multi-effects, which provides even more opportunities, without distorting the sound.
One important thing: very good sound at low volume.
I put 9 because perfection does not exist, but we can change the sound at leisure, I could have 10!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 8 months. Like everything in this place, except the weight!
In a little quibble, one could also say that three completely independent channels would be even better;).
The value is excellent, but we should be talking about value for money service, because at this level, nobody can compete: do you know a brand that offers a VAS always listening, always smiling?
In terms of other amps that I owned and tested in detail (I'm not talking about tests done in stores soon, but in my tests with the same speakers, same guitar, alone and in groups, volume or reasonable), I quote: Rack Rocktron Voodo Valve + Velocity 250, Hughes and Kettner TriAmp, Mesa Triaxis + 2.90, Carvin V3 ENGL Fireball, Marshall JCM2000 TSL JMP 100 and 100, Diezel Einstein, Mesa Dual Rectifier, the conclusion is that I have kept the CA100, and I still have the Dual Recto amp in relief. The CA100 is the only one that provides enough gain without drooling and it does not than it sounds "chemical". I like all the others, but I prefer the NOS.
My wife likes: I have no desire to change the amp (for now, because I'm still a little sick and I may change someday, but before I can ask changes to Gerard ...).

Edit March 9, 2011: I finally traded my head against a Rectifier VHT Pitbull CL100 eq. Coupled with the CA100 is impressive.
