Decent head
Published on 07/28/11 at 13:36Randall is a great company that has an amp for everyone. Now they have been one of the companies on the forefront of the modules world. Them and Egnater have been the two companies that have really taken the idea of using different preamp in a power amp head and the ability of switching them in and out to find that special flavor of tone that you need for a multiple channel amp. This amp is another great feat from Randall.
It is a three channel amp that can go from a nice clean tone to an all out shred tone and pretty much everything in between.

SOUNDS
This is relatively easy amp to dial in. Every Randall that I have ever played seemed to have just the easiest operation and setup. You don't ave to be that smart to figure out how to dial this thing in to get a good tone whether that be a clean, crunch, rhythm, lead, or an all out ultra shred tone.
This amp has a nice clean tone. nothing to say is special or excellent but enough to get your through any gig. Not a recording clean tone though. The crunch channel gets you great classic rock tones and can even get some nice hairy saturation for modern music as well. The third and final channel is for the all out mega saturation and gain. This is a fun channel to play at home with or at a live show. Where you need a little more saturation if you play at lower volumes or you need that extra uumph to get cranking at a gig.
OVERALL OPINION
This amp has a lot to offer and for the price is it a great buy as well. At new you can find these amps for right at around $799, which is a killer price. You can get a lot of stuff for that kind of money but you can get a clearly versatile amp from Randall that have three channels and even better yet, a bias section on the back for user biasing. This will save you money in the long run from not having to take you amp once to twice a year to get a power tube update. You can now do it yourself and save about $50- $70 giving it to some amp tech to spend and hour re-biasing your amp. This is a feature that other companies have been doing a lot lately and it is a good thing.See less00
