A good amp shop, vintage sound guaranteed
Published on 11/25/10 at 07:58 (This content has been automatically translated from French)Here's an all-tube amp (but really light, even the recovery), hand-wired, with each component selected very carefully. It is a copy of Marshall 18 W, with additional features (Bright chaining channels ...). Made in Britain (the great)! For detailed specifications, better go see the site here and concentrate on the sound ...
UTILIZATION
Simple configuration for one who has ever used an amp with two channels: it tolls for entry. After, look for THE sound, playing with the knobs is what is interesting ... I have not used the manual.

I tried this amp connected on my HP JCM900 4102, in order to properly compare the amp itself, and with a Start and a Les Paul ... well we go...…

SOUNDS
I tried this amp connected on my HP JCM900 4102, in order to properly compare the amp itself, and with a Start and a Les Paul ... well we go back a few decades back! Grain vintage, rocky wish to ... You'll understand that an amp is typed, for those looking for that sound.
It has two channels, which can be put in cascade:
Channel Rock:
It was of course a gain and a volume that was played to saturate the beast to manage his lamp. It saturates very fast: the clear sound is accessible only at low volume: it is a "Crunch Machine. Once it starts to saturate, the grain is very good, and the higher you go, the more it's really good: balanced, warm, good harmonics ... saturation is vintage, not extreme to the Mesa. To compare it a bit more as if it was saturating the clean channel of a Marshall, but without breath, without busting your eardrums, and with more dynamic ... and there is no grain : it is gravel! It vibrates! Amp with a strong personality. The samples are on the site, but it's much better in real life, hard to describe this feeling. It reached a power very correct, sufficient repeats "normal" and little cafe-concert, but the sounds already saturated, the big crunch.
Corrections low / medium / treble are rather subtle: to remain in the minds of the amp, they remain limited. Anyway, the amp sounds great just 12, thanks to the grain, the grain still ... the sound is balanced basis. Although saturated, it remains accurate, even on complex agreements.
Canal Classic:
I'm not too used to channel "Classic" or the chaining of channels: the sounds are interesting, but I'm too stayed on the channel "rock" and I have not fully exploited the craft. If I try again, I will complete.
OVERALL OPINION
This is not an opinion of convenience, therefore remain critical: I loved the less bright a little too steep (just disable it), there is no effects loop ( but I think that's an option) and finishing too good for the amp that makes you afraid to carry around ... I like things a little "roots" matter of taste. In his clear, I would have liked a little more power, even if it is not made for that.
So amp very successful! It will be at home, in repeated, small-studio and concert we need a machine like this in their musette ...
PS: I never put 10 there is always room for improvement ...
