TL Audio 5001 4-Channel Tube Mic Preamp

UTILIZATION

Easy to use because there are few parameters ... but not necessarily easy to solve: there is such as to drive an LED, it's a little "Cheap"

SOUND QUALITY

I use it with KM184, an RodeNT2, the SM58, I then enters a compressor BSSaudio DPR404, and finally into a multifaceted RME sound card.
For miking acoustic guitar with pickups, ç'est not bad at all,
the sound seems easy to find, quite natural, balanced, workable.
For voice, I sometimes get really successful catches (a sound close and hot) and some days I take the plant completely (too much drive, not clear ...). Generally, I avoid the maximum preamp drive with this because I think 12AX7wa lamps are not made for that.

OVERALL OPINION

To summarize, what attracts me in this preamp, the ç'est 4tranches in one machine; for stereo plugs (piano) + voice or guitar.

What I like is that it can do its work constructively by providing little more presence and warmth ... but, paradoxically, it is sometimes difficult to tame, and if so, does the opposite, then I have to look far to make it discreet.

What I dislike is that it is not very reliable, I already send it back because I had "FFfrrrfffrrr" ... and he returned in exactly the same state

The prampli colors very slightly all the microphones but not more than any other amp. In fact I would not say masi colors gives the grain of its own

I use it for a year
I like 4 pramplis Intgr!
The format is gnial, clear sound, easy to use!
I tried the Beringher 8 channels and the quality has nothing in common with this one requires no nothing!
Excellent price quality ratio do not forget that you have 4 excellent quality pram lamp in a single format!
With esxperience I referasi this choice because in my stuio is a practical tool for decision-batteie to be a lot of microphones on pramp lamp and then a quality like no other!!

I bought two a year apart in 2002, and are both crashes: buttons that spit after a while of use the 48v power supply has gone on to a of them. all with 1 year warranty: not terrible!
t one has returned home Thouar Audia and Buttons always spit but only after a few months of use ...
dcidment not even if the sound is very well, including a lack of something or srieux in the quality of the components.
I have a friend who has a ing and has the same problems! SERIES probably a bad or a default to which they have not thought at TL - I think for this type of device, they should use notched knobs. They parraissent me more effective for recall.
