The Technics Sl 1200 MK2 are a series of turntables that have actually been around for a while now. The MK2’s are more on the lower end of the totem pole because there are upgraded versions now of these. But they are classic and still built to last. The original model of this line was the SL 1200 then the MK2’s started, the MK2 I think came out in the 80’s and it was huge through out the up and coming world of hip hop and rap music, which is part of the reason the Technics SL 1200 MK2 made its way to the united states. I like the tone arm, its very sturdy and it’s a classic design with the S shape, turntables today don’t have these.

The MK2’s came out a while back in Europe but made there way over here to the US and am I glad they did! They are very good turntables, they are exactly what a DJ needs, even today with everything going digital and dj’s switching over to computer software to dj on. There are a few dj’s who still own these myself included who value the real art of dj’ing.

Overall these were and still are great turntable’s they are built to last, very solid structure and very sturdy. They are ready for any gig you have and will not break on your even when getting them in and out of the back of the van. You can even purchase a casing for them so you don’t damage them at all. Actually purchasing parts for the Yamaha SL MK2’s is pretty easy because Yamaha still manufacturers these and pretty much all of there machines keep the same parts line so if you ever need a fix even if its discontinued you can still purchase a part. Great turntables!

is a sum .. of course. But 5 years already ... and they have not aged. bliss. it fun to play with.

not. But I have not had the need to look elsewhere. As for any young musician, I know the long evolution and the search for the perfect instrument. To finish if I had bought an instrument from the beginning upscale I lost less money and my time.

without a doubt. do not hesitate a single second, if you want plates, is the best choice you can made. And if you have no money, better to wait a bit and be patient rather than to regret having to buy stuff through.

- How long have you use it?

I use these mythical plate for 1 week.

- What is so special that you like most and least?

The stability of the plateau, the torque exceptionally good and reliable over time (my turntables, bought used more than ten years of intensive evenings).
His reputation is largely conpréhensive.
Weight (13 kg) is a very big advantage (stability, acoustic), especially when I go out of a dark period TT1650, which weighs only 5 kilos. So I speak knowingly.
Quality scratch perfect, provided to adapt the cells adapted to such use.

The only thing I blame is the lamp that seems to burn quickly and the price (I got lucky on my side regarding this issue but good). Even if equipped, so put the mesh as well do it right once and for all.

Numark TT1650, stay away unless bought at great prices and START USED CAR CAN NOT BE DRAWN FROM NOTHING SERIOUS, Gemini XL models (what a joke this style ...), vulgar imitation in terms of CD :
Pioneer CDJ 1000MK3 and 800, Denon DNS 1000, 3500 ...
The high-end Denon is as good but better to combine a mk2 / serato in the digital, unless it is to mix in pitch + / - 50% if you know what I mean.

Quality has a price, but justified.

DJ DJ FRIENDS OR FUTURE, do not slam your money in the shit, go for safe bets AND REFERENCES.

They have all the decks for them!

it's been 7 months that I used, what I like is their simplicity, the wealth of info you can find on them (which is not the case for the supposed equivalent clones).
What I like less but it is not death, it is the non-linear pitch (yes, just when it's weird to CDJ)

I have not tried to models before but I followed the advice given on forums etc ... It seems that the most robust plates and I I like what is simple and efficient so I thought it was all found a model for me!

With the experience I would do this choice, what a pleasure to mix on vinyl, there's something more from the CD! But hey we are still new ones but at exorbitant prices.

Yes both before and none after me won

Style! To see one it always makes me dream. The least? It is a question idioite!!

What is your opinion about the value for the price?

A great value for money. Mine are 13 years and I never had any worries. I have a third with a score of years and a bit abused (not by me) at the body but otherwise it works perfectly.

</span> My first turntables were the stage line-drive belt, I found them satisfactory start, but the opportunity came I took the opportunity to mkII and I could no longer separate myself.

I say yes and yes ... RE without any hesitation! even if for a young beginner dj I can advise him to test the SYNQ that are more than correct at value for money ...

No deck can dethrone the myth technics not even TTX or PTD vestax, technics is built to last clear!! the plates must never had to worry neither club nor home, we just buy them close their eyes, finally check the stability of the pitch and play in the arm, only the small flat RCA DEFOIS loose or there but its applies to very old model SL1200, poor contact of the cell ortofon.
I may be offered any CD player to replace them, I always refuse, a DJ's vinyl and not work with the poor soul that cd without scratches or worse while the vinyl sound better than most and work much better than any medium.

My first turntables were belt-drive products from Stage Line. They were good enough for a beginner but I bought a secondhand mkII as soon as I had the opportunity and I never turned back again.

Which feature do you like the most / the least?

Pros:

Manufacturing quality
Plate stability
Amazing torque (although I've had the opportunity to try out synq models that have a higher one)

Cons:

Nothing except perhaps the connections (the RCA conductors are not easily accessible in case you have to replace them)
The potentiometer's detent at "0" is not very practical but you can replace them with Denon.

How would you rate its value for money?

The price is rather high but if ever find it secondhand, don't hesitate... GO FOR IT!!!

Based on your experience, would you buy this product again?

Two times YES... without hesitation!!!
