Cakewalk Sonar V-Studio 100

The CakeWalk V-Studio 100 is a portable device that will allow you to record up to 8 tracks simultaneously. It connects to your computer through USB connection and has some on board effects and a user friendly and DAW control surface that is compatible with Windows or Mac systems. Bottom line is that if you are a CakeWalk user than this interface is what you need to have. It is very portable and well built. It is also easy to install and start using right away. You cannot rack this unit, but it is not very big, so it is easy to put in a gig bag or book bag and take it with you and your laptop.

UTILIZATION

Setting it up was quick and painless, it really doesn’t even matter what version of CakeWalk you are using and it will work great in Sonar, Ableton Live, Cubase and a few others. It has a motorized touch sensitive fader and a LCD display screen. The foot switch is programmable and it has 11 buttons, 5 rotary encoders and you can pretty much use it with any DAW through Mackie Control.

The manual is easy to understand if you need to use it.

OVERALL OPINION

On the mixer there are 4 different reverbs, 6 channels of compression and 6 channels of EQ. There is a built in metronome on the V-Studio 100 as well as 2 channel WAV playback and recording. The CakeWalk V-Studio 100 has just about everything you need to run your whole set up for your band or if you are a DJ this could work great for you. I have been using this device since last summer and never had any issues with it. The value for the price is great, and knowing what I know now I am glad to have made this choice to use this interface. I do still own it and use it a lot, the sound quality is amazing.

- 1 knob motorized (it's nice ... but I do not practically used)

Daily for 7 or 8 years (I do not know ... it matériele part of my life now ..lol ..)

No driver (ASIO and others) are top .. almost never crashes.
And it works even under seven impeccable

OVERALL OPINION

Excellent material ... I fear the time it will fail!
In summary, I love ^^ ... he loves me ^^ ... and besides, it's too good!

This choice I would of course!

Compact, affordable, comes with a software package (SONAR + VST), it makes a beautiful box to serve as a home studio show followed a short training.



UTILIZATION

No problems with drivers provided. There is a small step for online registration at installation, nothing really bad. I work with W7 without pb.

I use it standalone or with a DAW. Integration with SONAR's version provided is natural, but can also be used with software that recognizes the Mackie (Ableton Live for my case).

Despite the provision of SONAR and operating facilities offered with SONAR, I did not give Live. I found too heavy for my SONAR Home Studio needs.

I use 8 tracks with imperceptible latency.

SAR for installation and configuration. It is generally easy to implement. The doc is there, and pretty damn well.

OVERALL OPINION

The assessment after 9 months of use is positive. The manufacturing quality is serious, pb-free operation, the software package is correct, especially interesting if you are going to do much.

It is compact, easily transportable and can operate standalone. This product is a good Swiss Army knife, this may not be the best knives, but for the nomads, home-studio owners or small groups is a very good introduction.

Super! A portable recorder / mixer / sound card / surface contrle ...

UTILIZATION

So ok, did everything but finally ... Especially the part that I used sound card.

- Registration nomad is a bit bulky, not super ergonomic and ncessite absolutely a 220 V. ..

- The mixer does not fall sources that we want to hear, nor can "mutate" the output ... To have the headphone back, and not pregnant, you have ... unplug the Plugs!

- Surface contrle does not work with my old version of Sonar!

Otherwise the sound card works fine.

No problem to install, setup very well explained.
The manual is a bit short, as always I find for this kind of product.

OVERALL OPINION

It works, did the job, but eventually the number of entries is somewhat limited and the promise of super machine that makes every one has not served its purpose in my case.
