<span style="text-decoration: underline;">What characteristics have motivated your choice?
</span> The compatibility of my sessions to the systems of colleagues (<span class="b1d3pvivm">pro tools</span> hd, Digi002)
Compactness to go on a trip and the fact that it is unlike the metal Mbox2
Pro Tools software included, for disassembly and mixing, the ability to run cubase or logic (for the composition emid)
Finnallement my MIDI seemed adequate in pro tools and I do not use more than cubase ...
What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Disk ,...)?
I use a Macbook 2.13 ghz with 1 GB of RAM, noon managed by Unitor 8 Emagic
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">For what purpose?</span>
Usage 1: Mounting the image al. (Top, even without the option omf, simply ask for exports aiff sync with a beep)
Usage 2: Premix: Compatibility with the sessions, if there's going APAS too many tracks.
Usage 3: Compo Music Record: not bad: a buzz of a mass usb that a second screen is connected to the Mac. I did the test with another Mac, another mbox, in the same place and in another place.
The buzz is manageable if you set the gain with tact, but it is very painful svit.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">With which instruments or systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) and you use the connection with what? ...</span>
MIDI is managed by a Unitor 8 MIDI channels that offer 8x16. No worries. I don not use the <span class="b1d3pvivm">mic preamp</span> but goes through a preamp tube mp studio v3 ART
UTILIZATION
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">The drivers are stable?
</span> No problem with installation is to turn pro tools that is a bit painful, the activation requires an internet connection and codes dautorisation year-ending.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">What software do you use most often?</span>
Pro tools 7,4,2. I used almost no longer the logic and cubase. Problems in contrast to final cut pro: the box has done almost every plant foix (like yours ... the avid competitor who plants with Avid digidesign protools to ...)
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">How many tracks do you manage to record / playback simultaneously? ..</span>
2 ben seen that there are only two entrances ...
no pb to record two tracks with 8-track stereo playback. (Not tested with more)
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">What latency you get?</span>
No I did not figure in memory but it was satisfactory.
Very compact, very simple to start. (On mac) 10/10
GETTING STARTED
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">The installation is done it without problem
</span> Install the audio interface mac very easy. I had struggled in contrast to install a mbox 2 on a Powerbook G4 <span style="text-decoration: underline;"> </span> aluminum <span style="text-decoration: underline;">was</span> due to a compatibility problem of feeding the USB <span style="text-decoration: underline;">bus.</span> Pb settled after researching the Digidesign website. j unclear whether the problem may be similar to the mini.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">The general configuration is easy?</span>
Configuratuion very easy because very little connector and very few buttons!
on the other hand epouventable ground noise usb whatever the port used when the second screen is connected to the MacBook. However, pro tools or another DAW with a single screen is for me unthinkable.
I put only 7 because of time lost in locating the source of the buzz and does not take into account the PA system with the pro tools authorization code
OVERALL OPINION
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">For how long have you been using it?
</span> 2 years ago
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Did you try many other models before getting this one?</span>
The mbox 2 a bit too big for a portable, plastic clown, a second XLR input that I did not do ... only regret the spdif. I worked on protools tdm otherwise, and my home pc with a 2496 sekd then echo mia noon. I have it on the pc only dorenavent roland sp 606 which acts as a audio interface.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">
What thing do you like most/least about it?</span>
The bundled with ProTools and compatibility of my sessions are significant. It is also small and I find it compact enough not to go til the mbox micro. We do have some input jack ... In addition the case is metal.
The value for money!
No digital input / output, a buzz of a mass usb as explained above, converter means, the logic is that Digidesign has to cough up for any options (I speak therefore of regret when the spdif to bypass the converters . this was the prx I do not regret connection adat, aes ebu, nor even a number of audio input more important: the digi 003 is for that but it's the same price aps)
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">
What is your opinion about the value for the price?</span>
Despite its default value for money is not bad if we consider that we pay the Pro Tools software with a dongle super!
But the pro tools comes with some truth plugins full version, the LE version and demo are not very usable tjrs. NO INTEREST to use anything that PRO TOOLS!
a book to those who need pro tools a must.
<span style="text-decoration: underline;">Knowing what you know now, would you make the same choice? ...
</span> Yes and no. Yes because I am obliged to have a ProTools at home to advance sound montages and premix. In addition to all this, the mbox is only for monitoring interface so its faults are minor. (Except that damn macbook with the buzz that we put the second screen)
For music I am more reticent. Pro tools is Maintenat usable for MIDI, but J will really need a minimum of connections of Digi003 (even the mbox pro can not handle the adat!) And it feels really cheap (compared to a rm or motu)
I pondered at this time has changed the mini cons a Mbox2 for spdif and thus connect a Motu 2408 stand alone in order to use convertos ... or iron on cubase or logic through this same kind of mini motu and keep for the trip ... also enable me to work in 96khz (with a mk2 motu or 3)
I absolutely recommend this mbox sound editors, mixers, and all those who need ProTools and do not work on macbook with two screens.
(It is a bit larger than the mbox micro QD but even from the output jacks Vras for a little more expensive)
For pure music, if you stay on DP, Cubase or Logic does not embarrass you value for money which is good only for Protools compatibility.
For others,
9 / 10 for the sound editor / mixer
6 / 10 for the musician.
0 / 10 on macbook with two screens.
Average 7 / 10 because the price displayed NEW 250 euros for it plays in cettte range. (215 currently)
