One would think that this is a Pro Tools issue, but hear me out...
Running ProTools 12.5 on Windows 10, I continue to get an error that says:
PRO TOOLS RAN OUT OF CPU POWER.
TRY DE-ACTIVATING OR REMOVING NATIVE PLUG-INS.
Now, the computer I was using was a few years old, and after troubleshooting as much as I could I decided to just purchase a new machine. So I just bought a brand new machine that has the following specs:
All I installed were the Focusrite drivers, Pro Tools and Pro Tools plugins.
I'm STILL getting the same exact error. This happens during playback almost randomly. I tried several Pro Tools projects, some only have 3 plugins, and others have about 20. Not all projects had errors, and I have to believe that it has to do with the Scarlett since it is happening on the new machine with no other software and plenty of muscle.
I have a Scarlett 18i20 2nd Gen. and a Scarlett OctoPre connected with an optical cable.
Could it be the cable that is causing trouble?
Any assistance/guidance you may provide will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
It is almost impossible for an audio interface to cause CPU power problems.
A driver can be stuck somewhere causing memory run or stack overflows but not a CPU.
But hey.. Never say never.
Advice :
Run your daw with plugins and go to the windows
Monitor tools.. You know : resources/CPU etc etc
Let it run while working and monitor which program is realy eating up your CPU resources.
Good luck and let us know what causes your problem.
