Value For Money : Excellent
- What characteristics have motivated your choice?
I was looking for an affordable audio interface, with a microphone, a guitar input and line input, while the USB 2.0, simple to implement and if possible with a software bundle. I demanded at least 24bits/48kHz.

- For what purpose?
Mobile and home studio, to produce parts acoustic and electric guitar, saxophone and vocals (but not all at once ...)

- What is your config (Motherboard / CPU / Ram / Hard ,...)?
Case Antec Sonata
Motherboard: Asus K8V SE Deluxe
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200 +
Ram: 1GB
Disc: 2 x 120GB Serial ATA

Dell Inspiron 600m
Centrino 1.6Ghz
512
80GB

- Which instruments and systems (console, preamp, DTD ...) do you use the connection and how?

Fender Stratocaster, Epiphone AJ-15E, Korg Wavestation, Samick Digital Piano, Midi interface Edirol UM-2, awaiting a Shure BETA58.

I put 8 / 10 because the UX1 has no microphone input 48v power supply, unlike the UX2. There was in my plans to acquire a B-2 Pro, for once, it missed at least put a little more to buy some sort of device to get the damn power supply 48v.

UTILIZATION

- The installation is done it without problems?
No worries installation.
It must still take some precautions to avoid deadlock possible:
Unplug all USB devices present on the PC (except the keyboard and mouse; o))
Exit all programs running in the background (antivirus, etc ...)
Install the GearBox (line6) BEFORE connecting the beast.

- Have you experienced any incompatibilities?
No imcompatibilité. And if there had been, the GearBox application has a conflict detector: a kind of benchmark of the machine that tests all (memory, CPU, disk, etc.)

- The general configuration is easy?
Configuration is done alone. A real pleasure! Efficient and fast.

- The manual is clear and sufficient?
What manual? Apart from a small box of 10cm * 10cm saying it must be installed before the TonePort GearBox. There are several help files. Too bad they are not printed. But good for the price, you can not have it all.

So it deserves a 10/10.

GETTING STARTED

- The drivers are stable?
In theory yes. Used for a full day, no worries.

- Are they often updated?
GearBox has a tool for automatic updating of firmware TonePort. Simplicity itself.
You click on the Update button and then you wait to click OK, disconnect and reconnect the TonePort. It could not be simpler. At first the drivers are regularly updated, if need be a.

- What software do you use most often?
Cubase SX 2.1
The TonePort Abelton comes with Live Lite 4, I'll take a look, and will update my opinion.

- What you get lag?
2 milliseconds miserable

- How many tracks you get to record / playback simultaneously?
2 tracks (mono) Simultaneous recording. Which is a shame since we use the USB 2.0, which, I believe, can handle 4 simultaneous mono tracks.
GearBox offers several routing: + instrument mic, mic, instrument, stereo line, line1 + line2, I may be forgetting ... But in any case there are only two simultaneous inputs.

9 / 10: A little disappointed not to save recorded four simultaneously. It can be used ...

OVERALL OPINION

- How long have you use it?
Since two days.
- What is so special that you like most and least?
- No power supply 48v
- Only two simultaneous tracks
- There are not enough presets (line 6 in offers for sale (still in GearBox)!
It's a bit inflated)

+ The price: For this price it still has good hardware, even if not very heavy little box do not put forward the sound quality.
+ The deign and large buffers. The case is very stable.
+ The modeling preamps are very good quality and really changes the sound made
+ The amp models and effects are good too, it's nice to find new sounds and presence.

- Have you tried many other models before buying it?
I had a Terratec DMX6Fire that conflicted with my new config. I used Amplitube LE, which sounded fine with the Terratec. But the UX1 is much better.

- How would you rate the quality / price?
This was not theft, it's a fact! € 135 for the UX1 is reasonable and affordable.
Line6 it's still a reputation for its models, and did not again in the court of audio interfaces (POD Guitar Tracker), their new products are up to.

- With experience, you do again this choice?
Only regret is missing the power supply 48v sacrament! An error on my part, I misread the spécicifactions. Is it justified to spend the UX2? Maybe ... but you must add € 80. See for yourself. I keep my UX1!
