A feature concealed by AVID: It doesn't work as a standalone device!!! You need a computer to activate it.

USE

I use it live with a MIC + BASS + SYNTH which I output together with my Mac (Logic) tracks on 4 or 6 outputs of the C 600.

The volume control proves very practical in use.


OPERATION

Good driver, it's recognized immediately by my Mac running Mountain Lion.

OVERALL OPINION

Gigs after 2 years. A bit fragile (plastic), but beautiful... I also have an M AUDIO Duo which is unsophisticated and much more solid (metal).

2 major defects:

Fragile connectors (false contact on track 1).

I had a problem with the power supply, tech support is unreachable, and now half the inputs are unusable!!! FAIL

Are the drivers stable?
No, I often have to reboot because no sound comes out.

Which software do you use?
Reason, Ableton Live...

How many tracks can you record/playback simultaneously ? ...
Compared to my M-Audio 410, not many. Reason displays an error message, which doesn't happen with the 410.

Are they up to date?
No, and it's weird by the way, because it's hard to know who's in charge of the drivers and support of this fast track, Avid and M-Audio blame each other. In the end, Avid seems to have updated the drivers, for example:
The drivers for Mac OSX Mavericks were updated in November 2013.
But they don't work, so the card is useless up to this day.
You only need to go to Avid's Facebook page to realize how many users are raging about it while Avid doesn't provide any answers. It's impossible to contact them for free, you need to pay! It's shameful!

What's the latency of your system?
It's hard to answer this question, since it's not stable.
You need to constantly change the latency to avoid crackles.

Logically Plug&Play, but I've had to start over again several times.

I don't really recommend this soundcard and I don't understand the different reviews on this soundcard.
When I received it, it was a huge disappointment, a light plastic box.
Then, in use, it lacks power, it's constantly unstable, in short, it's not even worth $100.

No, I'll never buy another Avid product again.

Yes, I have never had the slightest issue with them.

Approximately 1 ms on my pC and less than 1ms on my MacBook.

Multi-track recording works fine (when it feels like it), it has 6 inputs for recording.

It's a good value for money, I don't regret my purchase.

I like new PC config:
Intel Core i7 3770 with 8GB RAMs Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 rev 1.3 and graphics card Sapphire Radeon HD 7770-1 GB
I bought it to optimize the performance of my Reason7 software and frankly I'm happy especially the "independent management of three pairs of speakers" function to the mix close to mastering level.

UTILIZATION

No compatibility issues, because I "jump" three sound card (NRV8, C600 and Sony to my TV) to my test quality and frankly Nothing to Report.

GETTING STARTED

Single standard installation (You click, you click and you click) on the other hand for advanced installation (two sound cards on the same PC as not used in the same way and the TV sound card via the HDMI graphics card ), there are some manipulations to do and it's a bit boring.

OVERALL OPINION

Use 90% of my time audio processing. Very telling of value for money.

After having tried his hand on a Fast Track Pro, I felt the need for more input simultaneously. Skip February-April seemed a good solution.
When I record an electric guitar, I multiply the pickups since I use at least two speakers, each transplanted by a pair of microphones' dynamic + static ".
And as I was satisfied with my Fast Track, I stayed at M-Audio.
4 entries thus combo XLR / jack. Can connect three monitors to pair with selection buttons. Transport functions (record, play, stop, forward, rewind). Two independent headphone jack with volume. Input / output SPDIF and noon. Two 48v power: one on each of the inputs 1/2 and 3/4 groups.
This interface is connected to my PC via USB and my Tannoy active monitors with my cable manufacturing (Sommer SC-Albedo MKII and XLR / Neutrik jacks).

UTILIZATION

Stable drivers. Used with Pro Tools MP9.

OVERALL OPINION

Very pleased with the C600, I take great pleasure in its use and intuitive with its successful ergonomics. Record 4 channels simultaneously offers great comfort and many combinations. Latency is below the audible threshold and therefore do not pose any concern. The transport keys are handy when the mouse is not immediately at hand. Quality pre-amps is quite satisfactory and overall sound quality appointments.
The interface of the control panel turns clear and successful even if, ultimately, I do not use, if ever! Integration with Pro Tools, it goes without saying, is perfect.

I just recently had the chance to use this interface made by M-Audio. It is the Fast Track C600 and it looks nothing like any of the previous “Fast Track” models that they have made over the years. This interface is pretty thin/small and it is made for more of a tabletop style use because when you lay it flat all of the knobs are on the face of it facing straight up. This interface comes with Pro Tools SE which is easy to work with and using this interface with any other DAW is just as easy because I have used it with Cubase, Ableton and Reason just recently. I have not seen any issues with this interface.

UTILIZATION

Installing the drivers only takes a few minutes and I have not seen any updates for this device. There are reverb and delay effects right on this interface. For me that is a huge plus because that allows me to save some of my CPU because I do not have to run reverbs and delays on those audio signals coming in; that is a great way to save some CPU for later on.

GETTING STARTED

Pro Tools SE is a really good DAW to work with and I am very happy that it came with this interface. Even though it is only the SE version it still gives over 100 VST instruments and a bunch of effects to add to your mixer tracks. You can even have up to 24 audio and VST tracks, but that will would not hold long for me because a lot of my instrumentals alone have more than 24 tracks so that is why I just purchased the full version of Pro Tools so I can have unlimited tracks and a lot more effects.

OVERALL OPINION

This interface is sleek and worth the buy. It fits perfectly on my desktop surface and it is very portable. It can work great in Reason and Logic (on Macs) too!

The drivers are stable?

In normal use, no problem, parcontre tested Cubase, drivers often drop and requires restarting the PC, I'm leaning more on the problem after 1 year of use ....

Are they often updated?
No, and even worse than that, since he must go on Avid for new drivers (since the links SHIFT from the console does not work) is the M. .. !. A nice page "error 404" does not allow to see the support page for the product ...

OVERALL OPINION

I loved the number of input and output (analog, digital) implementation MIDI interface for connecting instruments

Ease of use, the transport buttons are present and it is a good idea to have it installed.

Parcontre that I do not like is that there was no button on / off and to prevent the sound card is always on, I have to unplug the transformer and the USB cable. . It is rather unfortunate.

The M Audio Fast Track C600 was a completely different design than any of the other interfaces M Audio has created over the years. I was really surprised with the way they stepped outside of the box and created the C600. The C600 is the upgraded from the M Audio Firewire 410 which I also owned for a while. The C600 has a very low Noise and works great in Acid Pro and in Cubase, even used it in FL Studio from time to time just for a few small projects locally.


UTILIZATION

Setting the M Audio Fast Track C600 up was very simple and easy to do, there weren’t any out of the ordinary problems that we ran into while setting it up. It is very similar to the 410 from M Audio so we already knew what to do. Drivers are very stable and I am pretty sure they may have got updated once.


GETTING STARTED

No compatibility issues and no manual was needed to use and set up. Latency is extremely low, as it is with most M Audio interfaces. We have been using interfaces from M Audio for a long time now and each time we try a different one they seem to get better and better. I stand by the C600!


OVERALL OPINION

The least favorite thing about the M Audio Fast Track C600 is that the top part of the actual interface isn’t made of steel. It is made of plastic, which seemed a bit cheap. They put all that time into creating a great newly designed interface they should have made the top of it like the rest of it. But non the less, it works and looks great. I recommend using it if you are looking into M Audio’s interfaces. We have tried its previous model which was the FireWire 410 and it worked great, but the C600 has it beat. Give this a shot.
