I used to mix ITB and do mastering.

It is connected via USB to a core i7 iMac mid-2011 (ref 12.2).

I needed a card that has the best possible sound, and including a minimum of unnecessary options.

I was attracted by its technical characteristics, and the fact that it has the bare minimum I need 2 inputs line / inst / mic pre-amps with copies, which occasionally allow me to connect directly to a vinyl turntable to sample and archive. 4 outputs: 2 for 2 for the monitoring and analog processing chain.

I use the Toslink input to listen to music through the sound output of the iMac. I still am using I / O ADAT but I know that they allow me to add 8 tracks to 44.1kHz for send / return, for example, or an analog adder with its own converters.

UTILIZATION

Latency by using VSTi is very low.

I use it mainly with Pro Tools 11 Ableton Live 9 and Logic Pro X.

The drivers are very stable. I had a few bugs with the console at first, but they were quickly resolved. No problems at all since. Prism support is impeccable.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for over a year. I love the ergonomics and its apparent simplicity.

But mostly I love the sound. The record is very clear, detailed and accurate in all the frequency range.

The price / quality ratio is consistent. I tried other cards Advent me decide: RME Fireface and UAD Apollo. Lyra is clearly in the category above. In its range I have not compared with the Apogee Symphony, the Lynx Hilo, or Lavry Blue, but I think it's more so a matter of taste than performance.

As long as the card is placed in a treaty environment, and broadcast on the monitor speakers to choose from, we get an audio record of the highest quality.

This is exactly what I expected. I certainly would do this choice today because I think there is no better now and that Lyra meets my needs perfectly.

Preamps and high-end converters used with Protools 10 in the studio with an Imac, a TC FINALIZER connected AES EBU to sleep sound in Protools, a TC Reverb 4000 ADAT and EVENTDE ECLIPSE back online for other effects. Great to have a hell of a setup.

UTILIZATION
