GForce Software GForce M-Tron

The GMedia GForce M-Tron is a virtual synth emulation of the classic sampler known as the mellotron.  It was an easy piece of software to install as I didn't have any compatibility issues or any other sorts of problems.  The interface is also quite simple as it simply has a switch that gives you the ability to choose your sound, which like the original mellotron is between either strings, flutes, or brass.  It also has parameters in slider form for attack and release as well as knobs for volume, tone, and pitch.  I haven't seen the manual for this software so I can't say if it is helpful or not, but it is easy enough to figure out on its own.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

I've never had any problems at all running GMedia GForce M-Tron.  I am currently running it on a Mac Book Pro that has a 2.2 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB of RAM.  I usually run it in Apple Logic, but sometimes will route it into Pro Tools with Logic or another sequencer as well.  I've only had the need to run one at a time, and within my configuration this works fine.


OVERALL OPINION

I've had the GMedia GForce M-Tron for a little bit more than a year and I have to say that I am definitely a fan of this virtual instrument.  I think it is a pretty great emulation of the mellotron as it pretty much sounds just like it.  It has enough parameters to get all of the sounds that you would be after in a piece of software like this and is quite easy to use.  I love all of these classic sounds as most of the music that I listen to is from the time period that the mellotron was primarily used.  The price is very cheap and is really a great bargain.  If you like the mellotron and want to get its sounds but can't find or afford one like most of us, the GMedia GForce M-Tron is the way to go.

Installation without problem: a directory to store the samples Owner 'format, a dll in the directory Vstplugins.

On a P2 350, I do not even feel: trs little greedy, I align more with no problem while other brands VSTis are a nightmare. No problem running. In short, excellent stability.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two years, with two cd sounds supplmentaires.
Sounds found in everything from strings, brass, vocals, keyboards ... in short the formulation of the first sampler of classic acoustic sounds.
The formulation is perfect, although he had never heard in real mellotron. against by the many discs as I j'coute dcle all the time now.
The sound is sr trs color marks a little distorted, background noise rsiduels, sometimes not. But that's all the charm. Each time it boasts the MRIT my strings, see the few pieces that I put the cost of AF.
No equivalent in many vsti sr, however, there are CDs of samples of mellotron, and much more onreux ncessitant a sampler.
70 euros for the software, 40 euros supplmentaire cd is a must.

No problem installing Windows XP Pro with Cubase and a map VST5 Audiophile 24/96
The configuration gnrale fate was no problem, I did not even have to read the user manual while c'tait the very first time that I ' install and use a VSTi.

As Describes prcdemment, Xp Pro + Cubase + Audiophile 24/96 (PCI version) Configuration = no problem, everything works impcc, stable, with that said a few times when the volume is grsillements too strong, but it comes more than set up my card I think (4ms latency).

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for ending for a year, I am absolutely a fan of the mellotron that is on most of my albums cults particulirement fan of progressive music and group such as Genesis, Yes or King Crimson, I found thanks to M-Tron, the typical sound of the mellotron identifiable and if I still wanted.
Sounds that fascinate me most are the violins and choirs, reminiscent incredibly well Epitaph or other Starless King Crimson. Other sounds such as flutes (Recalling the Beatles to other groups of prog) and choirs (including a sound used by Richard Babieri of Gravity Eyelids Porcupine Tree In Absentia on, I understand that it works Gmedia On the relationship ... o ...) I like particulirement, really impressive. I am less convinced by the samples of rhythms that are less useful me.

No problem. also used a less powerful PC bcp (Dell 700 MHz 256 RAM) with no more basis points.

Could not quantify the latency, but the game in real time is possible. Knowing that all the true fawn also some latency ... you do not lose by the change.

OVERALL OPINION

Use since ending for two years. This is my APRS prfr B4 and Lounge lizard before. Apprciate question. I have not tried other, except Mellowsound, a free VST plugin that works a lot with sound convincing, but less raliste, trs and low sounds.
with Mtron, it was almost a real mellotron for better or for worse (without the weight and changing tapes). Her trs hot. Great for Genesis, the Moody Blues, Pink Floyd, Led Zep, too bad some compounds.
