    plenty of vocal effects

    TC-Helicon VoiceLive RackPublished on 01/02/13 at 01:34
The TC Helicon VoiceLive Rack is a vocal effects processor and it comes with a MP-75 microphone. The value for what you get is great with this unit. You can pretty much create any sound or effect that you can think of with this unit. It even has all of the presets of many popular songs that you can apply by the click of a button. Some of the effects that it has are doubling, detune, flange, chorus and many more. There are over 200 presets on the VoiceLive rack and every single one of them is very good.

    UTILIZATION

The pitch correction/shifting on this rack is very good, it sounds very natural and smooth but only if you want it too. You easily push it to the limit and do some crazy stuff with it. You can customize everything all the way down to the type of humanization (male or female).

    SOUND QUALITY

The interface of this rack is simple to use and operate, it does come with a manual that will help you figure things out because right out of the box things can get a little overwhelming when you first start using it so it is great to have a well written manual close by to help with any questions you may have. TC Helicon also provides great support to anyone who buys from them, I had to call them several times not just for this rack but for other gear and they have been nothing but helpful.

    OVERALL OPINION

This unit is a must for a singer or someone running a live set because it comes with a microphone and all of the effect you need to replicate the sound of popular songs or completely come up with your own vocal sound and even save it as a preset so you can come back to it later. This unit will only take up 1 rack space and it made to last a long time. I highly recommend purchasing this, it is listed at a great price too!

I love what these units do but they are not the easiest to work with. They state they are but as you start to want to edit the presets it becomes a bit challenging. The harmonizing is wonderful as is the presets. Following your tonic note is perfect. Now granted I use this in my studio and in that application I want to work fast when I need to edit a preset. I was doing some Queen effects and for some I like it and for some it was a bit over the top. I do recommend this unit. It does sound great. The phantom power engagement needs to be just a switch and it is too involved. It should have just been a button on the front especially on the mic stand version. It is rather intense and to…

I was doing some Queen effects and for some I like it and for some it was a bit over the top. I do recommend this unit. It does sound great. The phantom power engagement needs to be just a switch and it is too involved. It should have just been a button on the front especially on the mic stand version. It is rather intense and to much info in a small box. The best thing about this unit is the effected presets. You can start from there and to edit by touching the buttons it is easy but if you are going to start tweaking effects times and decay times or even the basic effects you will have to learn the unit really well. I don't think that it will be an automatic easy task as advertised. I was editing a preset that had auto tune effect reverb and delay and it took me some time as you have to hit the right buttons and then hit the mix button to adjust. It was not a plug and play and just start singing. I have a few bands that own them and they love them but have to get to know them.

    UTILIZATION

Vocal effects. The manual is a bit confusing. As is the preset editing on the unit. I find that when your wanting to move around from preset to preset you are dealing with a great deal of issues. First you must learn the quick editing shortcuts and know them well in order to have any once of fluidity while using the unit. Second you must know a great deal about blending and uses of different effects and all the parameters that make up the one preset, otherwise you will be scratching your head. If you are not aware of what effect does what you can touch the effects buttons one at a time but that won't get you into the presets and editing parameters. I think a better manual and a quick edit feature would be better suited for this piece.

    SOUND QUALITY

I use this for vocal effects in a studio only. I do not use it live. I like the long reverbs and the vocal choir effects. I love the choirs and some of the wild presets that is comes with although some are a bit dirty. For live I am sure it would be great but I am using it in a studio application and most would buy this unit for live sound or harmonies.

    OVERALL OPINION

Good for the money. Sound quality is very good. User friendly it gets an average. Some companies assume that the normal musician would have an easy time editing with this unit but I don't see it that way as most singers are not familiar with blending effects and are not use to effects. I think the stock presets need to be more easy and more useful for live applications. For harmonies it is fantastic and follows every not perfectly.

    The VoiceLive 2 ... Rack

Everything is explained on the manufacturer's website ...

This is a VoiceLive 2 Rack. This is what is done best in the genre "speech processor".

One major difference, the looper function is not integrated into the rack.

The rack comes with a dynamic micro brand. This is very good, it has a switch that can be assigned differently on VoiceLive (trigger harmonies, effects, stop etc.). I would have preferred a lower price without the microphone because I am equipped as required in that direction but the only store selling the rack without a microphone at the same cost as sold! So I stuck with. This mic does not disappoint, it is up to the quality of the rack. Its use is oriented live b…

So I stuck with. This mic does not disappoint, it is up to the quality of the rack. Its use is oriented live because it is particularly insensitive to the noise environment. Its capsule is very responsive to the proximity effect given by the user. An excellent microphone lead vocals.

    UTILIZATION

Rack format is welcome in the studio, the interface "touch" is nice, all the buttons, pots fall easily to hand. Ergonomics are good and the screen clear and readable information provides the necessary information.
Any ergonomics VoiceLive 2 rack format ... a flawless

    SOUND QUALITY

I will not dwell on the subject, go read the notice on the VoiceLive 2. The electronics are identical. The excellent!

    OVERALL OPINION

I used a VoiceLive 2 for 2 years, then sold and having a tight budget and wanting to keep the full potential of these devices, I pulled over a GTX VoiceLive Play ... error! Where, unquestionably, the series 2 and Voicelive VoiceLive Rack are pro level, the "little brothers" are a notch below. Mainly because of their pre-amp with a really poor quality. The rest, ergonomics, treatment, being in good order. In conclusion, I broke the piggy bank to re-invest in what the past has given me any satisfaction ... but this time it format studio because I'm moving more. Besides the price is even higher, this rack can not disappoint, know-how TC-Helicon, undisputed leader in the field is ... a significant investment, certainly, but good.
