Specifications are findable anywhere. Is there a software editor, nice ... Finally I have almost never used.

Audio input to use the internal effects on a song for example, or to record in the sequencer or sampler.

UTILIZATION

It's weird ... I feel I have the past 10 years, but I've had less than 3 years at the time of writing this. I worked 10 years on a XP80 before moving to the Fantom X6, I know the logic Roland.

A huge regret the pads can not be used to pad ... Encoding roulette spins, and turns and turns and turns ... It will end not misfire as the XP80, which it did not matter because I finally encode the values directly to the keypad. Classic example, in the sequencer, insert 36 measures from the measure 84 ... Well instead of encoding it in 25 hundredths of a second, you're playing roulette for 25 seconds (the button "shift" allows you to jump values of 10 instead of 1, it helps).

Another example, you need the last sounds of a bank which contains over 500 ... One example would be put at the beginning of the next bank and go back, but no, it does not work like that (it worked on XP80), you must get to the top of the bank and turn the wheel, given that can not call the preset with a numeric keypad (unlike XP80).

In short, this concern affect me much as you can see.

Apart from that, the configuration seems simple enough. There are lots of possibilities, it is impressive. It is a very complete keyboard workstation. The history of the keypad is a failure nonetheless.

SOUNDS

So yes, I put 10. The Preset Ultimate Piano "is to die for. I greatly prefer the sound of a Yamaha Motif XF (released 6 years after the Fantom X) Yamaha yet known for its super piano presets.

In fact I use quite a few sounds on the Fantom. Piano, Rhodes Stage Phaser, synthetic strings (I took the basic preset "Warm Pad" I think, and I opened a little filter). The effects are a killer. I fell in love with the phaser, which has lots of parameters and the results are sublime on Rhodes and tablecloths.

For information, I play in a rock band melodic / prog / metal a bit, and my sounds are predilections Piano, Rhodes, vintage tablecloths and a bit of hammond organ (discreetly). I do not use much else, sometimes also Mellotron Choirs.

I installed the "Ultimate Keys" for his synth sounds (Mellotron mostly ...), and Dynamic Drums "(which pokes fun at a slaughter house drumkits, yet very cool).

I never use sounds of saxophones, trumpets, cello, flute, etc.. So my use is mainly based "keyboards" and "synth". For that, the Fantom X is great.

And I forgot ... touching the keyboard! My oh my! I took a huge slap with XP80 ... who was then beaten by a JD800 that I had used. And the Fantom X is still above those two in terms of touch. A true happiness.

Cons by the reactivity of pads to make enough perceived void. I thought to use them, and I finally abandoned the idea.

OVERALL OPINION

I use since March 2007, ie for almost 3 years now. What I decided is the sound of piano. I wanted to buy the Fantom X7 at the base, but there was an X6 stock with an attractive price (for a few small scratches on the frame, but I do not see them even more).

It remains an expensive instrument, but really worth it. The sequencer is very useful to record some demos (MIDI + Audio). I also play guitar, bass and vocals, so it allows me to record ideas for songs offer to members of my group. We even used the sequencer for recording models (before transferring the audio mixer in Sonar seriously anyway).

My set-up on stage now is a Fantom X6 and XP80, the latter using only MIDI keyboard. All sounds come out of the Fantom.

And before you forget ... Element génialissime, the Skip Back sampling. The synthesizer registers itself continuously and stores up to 45 seconds of sound. Sometimes I hum (microphone plugged into the Fantom) and find a melody or a text totally improvised ... then hop, I press Skip Back Sampling "and I found the last 45 seconds of what I played and sang. Class!

There's plenty of other things, arpeggiator, etc.. But here I quoted all that is most striking for me. My main keyboard
