Roland Fantom X7

The Roland XS 7 was a keyboard that I purchased back in 07 pretty much on a sudden impulse after I fell in love with it at guitar center. After messing around with it for 3 hours (in the store) I new that I had to have it. The sales guy didn’t even have to sell me on it, I whipped out the credit card and purchased it. When I purchased it I had the though that I wanted it to be the main part of my studio with my drum machine and other audio gear coming into it with audio and midi connections, then from there I would export into pro tools in my mac. But after using it for about a month I just didn’t feel like that was the best workflow for me so it then became more of like just a sound module and a midi controller. Which I was upset with because for 26 hundred dollars is a lot of money just for a sound module and a midi controller. So I even though about returning it but I never did.


UTILIZATION

It was easy to use, if you have any problems there is a website by roland that you can go to that will have a bunch of other users that can help as well or you can go the old fashioned way and crack open the manual and start reading.


SOUNDS

The sounds are good, there really arnt too many effects that are on board that you can use to add to them though which also surprised me for the price I would think that you would have a ton of effects to work with.


OVERALL OPINION

Yes you should get this board, this was one of the best boards out and still is even though its around 7 years outdated now maybe even more I can remember exactly when it came out. But its still worth the buy today, it doesn’t cost that much brand new now though. Because of time, the price as came down a good bit.

Good keyboard, rugged, cool aluminum cladding, super screen color very practical, there is at the MIDI connectors, taken numriques, usb, diff. controllers and pedals, sounds profusion, poly. of 128 notes.

UTILIZATION

It fits easily BCAN the ds because the gd catch everything is available in patches, effects, performance and the manual is 345 pages full of the same but all in French.

SOUNDS

Then the I have a little hand on my hunger for acoustic pianos see Rhodes are very good, the guitars, the batteries are good but can be expressive too my taste and the rest I am for the string and zero for the brass !!!!!!
It may be necessary to see the SRX ?????

OVERALL OPINION

I've had one month, use the pads is easy nice compared those of a certain GPA? Skip Back Sampling function that records all, plenty of effects and mastering ....
LISTEN TO THE PIANO acoustic tail with diff. rglages cover open, shine.

Trs beautiful design of the keyboard with a coating of aluminum beautifully. Large Screen 320x240 rtroclair color and all the connections ncessaire is available on a synth. Other functions Skip Back Sampling and dynamic pads. 128 polyphony (and thankfully)

UTILIZATION

Ergonomics gnrale keyboard is very well thought. Accessibility assistive technology software for the functions is not bad (plus a 350-page manual franais about trs well arranged), the two modes of play well penss (performance / mixer). Skip Back Sampling function trs enjoyable and pads

SOUNDS

All dpend what is cherche.J 't touch him by the quality of pianos, Rohde and some guitars that are really close to the trs ralit.Les synthetic sounds are many there are for all tastes and brass and the strings are correct trs especially the few saxes and trumpets (but we should be able to have better SRX).
the effects are many and ralistes

OVERALL OPINION

I've had three months and I do not pick up a bit. using mainly guitars and synths and pianos, it suits me perfectly. But for those looking for a keyboard to use the orchestral sounds will can be be disappointed (unless SRX well made).
It's enough fun

128-voice polyphony .3 parametric effects + reverb + chorus + mastering (lightweight).
The Fantom has all the connections between excpt and output XLR and adat.
branch is Siur my pc via USB / midi, and my TRS to my sound card.
there are a number of controllers: the wheel to pitch and expression ... and for almost DBEAM paramtrable nimporte what effects.

UTILIZATION

CONFIGURATION gnrale rather simple (a real playstation!)
EDITION sound effects and very easy to pousss uriliser.
the manual is very clear (in french!)

SOUNDS

Sounds perfectly match what I want! and Rohde piano sound good. The synth is quite ralistes but may become even more in the ditant.
ke I hate the sounds are SYNTH FX and the ke prfere I come from the synth bass section.
I think the fantom is expected to have more sounds: c is the only thing we can blame him ..

OVERALL OPINION

J l uses for almost 2 years.
sometimes the machine rowing lightweight but very rarely. lil c is the - of the machine.
The big + c is the interface: one of intuitiva incredible: a real playstation!
report QUALITY / decent price.
J saw in the last machine korg (with a cut nearly as large ke that of my computer screen of) the Oasys <--- j saw its interface its a true iIn the brothel there understand. the fantom x 7 which is a lil bit older is better oraganis. the Oasys has a cd burner faders for mixer (c is a real studio all in one). The Oasys does everything but with less conventional equipment q (cp + workstation).
NOTHING AS GOOD WITH A GOOD PC SEQUENCER THE FANTOM X7 + k rather an Oasys prtend who do and do not do well forcment!
