Novation Remote 25 SL MkII

I will take the Novation Remote 25 SL MKII any day over the Impulse that Novation makes because it has a nice build to it. It seems like it was made to be more portable and the knobs are stronger than they are on the Impulse. There are also way more functions that you can assign on the SL MKII model from Novation. This controller is powered by your computer via USB and it comes with Automap 3 PRO but I have never used it. If you want to have full control over your DAW from your fingertips this board can do it for you quickly and with it being so portable you will have a full production studio at your fingertips no matter where you go.

UTILIZATION

There are a total of 37 buttons that you can use to sync with your DAW via MIDI and they all have LED lights. The LED lights not only look cool but they are great for working in a dim lit space. They keys on this controller are semi weighted but they don’t feel like they are. I do wish they had a little more weight to them though.

OVERALL OPINION

The MKII does have a dedicated transport control with MIDI in, MIDI out, MIDI thru and USB connections. You can run it on a Mac or a PC as long has you have a newer system like Vista or higher for PC.
If you want the MKII to be powered by a wall adapter you will have to purchase one separately. They are pretty expensive though so it is best just to let your computer provide the power. This unit is well built, but it is still light enough to be portable. This controller also comes in the 61 key and 49 key models and they are exactly like this model is. The MKII is better than the Impulse, it does cost more but it is worth it.

The Novation Remote 25 SL MkII is a 25 key MIDI controller for all types of uses. It comes in a few different sizes in terms of the amount of keys available, with this one being the smallest of the bunch. The controller has connections for MIDI input and thru, with two separate MIDI out channels. It also has 1/4" connections for both an expression and sustain pedal, as well as a USB port. It can be powered via either the USB port or with a nine volt power supply.

UTILIZATION

Using the Novation Remote 25 SL MkII overall isn't difficult, but learning everything that it has to offer is going to take a bit of use. I really just scratched the surface with this controller, but it's got as much control as you could ask for from a MIDI controller. In addition to the fairly standard controls, it has eight faders, a unique toggle pitch controller, transport buttons, and assignable parameter controls. The feel of the keys isn't the best but isn't the worst by far. It's easy enough to play, I'll say that. I haven't seen the manual, but it might not be a bad idea if you've just bought this and want to learn everything about it.

OVERALL OPINION

The Novation Remote 25 SL MkII is among the best MIDI controllers of this size that I've used. It also comes in 49 and 61 key models, so don't let the size of this model deter you. It's pretty much the perfect MIDI controller for anyone who wants a ton of control and options to work with, but if you're after a simple controller, this isn't it. For me at home I have an M-Audio Keystation 88 Pro, which is less in depth as I don't necessarily need all the controls this has to offer. Having said this, many people certainly will need the parameters and welcome the in depth control. It's of course going to be a bit more expensive than your average controller because of this, but it's definitely not your average MIDI controller...

The number of controls, sensitivity to touch and I decided automap. Both midi out and thru are a real plus. I use it but it can be very useful to others.

UTILIZATION

Touch is not bad. I am not a keyboardist, so I have little to give comparative.

The manual is short, too short.
With Cubase DAW best known and tested live) it's going well and quickly, malheureusment I use Reaper, and then have to search the net. A guy of the United States has a very functional plugin. For those that ca interress, look for "automap csurf plugin".
The touch sensitivity is really good, but must learn to manage it. Effeleurement selects any one function.

The pads are anecdotal. Too small, not sensitive enough. If you want to hit beats, buy a dedicated controller.
on the other hand, you can assign a keyboard shortcut in automap and AC is a good idea.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for six months, replacing a chépukoi EMU (the IRONMONGER).
I like a death and the automap screen. Now I mix with more ears than eyes, and it really changes everything.
I do not like the integration with Reaper.

It's upscale, the price is high, but we are not disappointed.

Carriable keyboard with a lot of controllers, personally I thought the automap was great if you know how to control it and its size is same config .... FATAR keyboard has also motivated my choice (I say it could be the better especially considering the price diffrence between the 25, 49, 61 ... definitely the keyboard ...)

I MET 7 because of the pots as well but I find plastic .... (See at night)

UTILIZATION

- The touch keyboard is it enjoyable? Should you use?
It's not a touch heavy but that's what I've seen far better (and I tried ... I have never invested in a piano touch because I am no keyboard instrumentalist)

- The configuration gnrale Is it easy?
so just be familiar with the automap pro who has made progress standards of ct from its placing on the market ...

- The select MIDI channels, patches is easy?
no pb

- The manual is clear and sufficient? ...

- How long have you use it?
a few days! there is nothing to say is a marvel this keyboard! since the time I'm looking for a while a Russian ... c foot for me!

- What is the particular feature you like best and least?
most: his ct prtentieux because nothing is missing on this MODEL ... the least: the pots that can be for the price could have inspired a little more confidence (I think the competitors because of kore 2 pots for me are really one in the Russianness Contents!) the c ' Eastern knob nocturn ... so good, the future will tell me if I had reason to doubt them ...

- Have you tried many other models before acqurir?
oh yes: CME (the TT models), Korg Kontrol 49, Novation Remote SL Compact, M-AUDIO
I know it's expensive but do not bother to look better is not! if not given that info is out of range MKII find out about the old line SL is now brad PLAYBACK, THOMANN etc. .....

- How do you report qualitprix?
I'm super happy for those instruments is innovation MKII see 61 or 49 with a 25 FATAR (mcanique hammers) cot ...

- With the exprience, you do again this choice? ...
