SOUND QUALITY

Well, I spent my evening to test a Focusrite Voice Master Pro.

For comparison I made a decision with my AKG SolidTuble voice through my Mackie VLZ then I tried to do the same through the Focusrite plug.

The Focusrite preamp is a bit softer in the acute ... but I spent a lot of time trying to find a difference ... not easy!

The compressor is not bad, I compared it to the compressor of my UAD-1, it is quite transparant and his job done properly.
TUBE simulation grows a little and give her a little more presence ...
The EQ is dedicated Voice ... I did not find great, fair, no more ... in comparison, the Pultec my UAD-1 sounds much better and is much more musical.
Vintage Harmonic part: I do not see what I could do that!

OVERALL OPINION

In summary: correct and transparant preamp, comp transparant and rather effective.
But for the price ... 650 euros ... Sounds a bit expensive! they would have done better to put less stuff and a better quality for the preamp ... Having said that I do not have much basis for comparison and I have tested with only one microphone!

One senses here the Filliat with ISA 220 and 430, because for less than 700 euros ttc this rack provides a nice number of inputs and outputs and XLR jacks, practice with a patch, it is also dot bypass on each function, it is a pain trs good signal / noise, and many visualizations (8 total) VU meter with a light-blue a bit aggressive!
But that's it !!!!!!!

UTILIZATION

All controls are located on the front, no rear switch 48V type, line etc. .. (If they are those of the option numrique)
I regret to have to read the same gain of the compressor 6 rduction dioid, especially on a device with a quip VU meter, which serves here as overall output level of the machine. t the opposite was more practical. but hey saw the color of the VU meter, I think it is more the aspect for marketing than anything else. the lighting is in fact so violent that it is hard to read indication of the needle.

SOUND QUALITY

I find the pre amp and quiet way, then there is a gate relatively useless in the current audio channels, a harmonic gnrateur interesting type of ribbon mics at once very easy s'eclairssissent (test Beyer M 160 with a ribbon) and a single compressor (it does not matter when a compressor sounds, but it is not the case and suddenly it is difficult with the little SETTING THE it to find a personal Sampler slot), then follow a tube emulator circuit, well done, but not roll over, then Eq quite interesting and well thought out to work quickly and efficiently voice, to finish a desseur in the same genre as the compressor is not to say fabulous, and the output section and monitoring, in short, a rack is fairly complete, but it only repeats in more low-end the concept of ISA 220 series, 430. without the same relief, flexibility, or even alive in the sound. OVERALL OPINION

A machine for live and home studio or small studio, it's fast rgler and remains a quality in relation to the average price. Trs's always a tense, hard to see, all sounds plutt "modern" and lack of relief, it is a very handy machine, now if you only need a pre amp or a compressor, it's just not be the right choice!
I can not find it invalid, but not far!! not much better than a Behringer !!!!!

UTILIZATION

Despite the number of modules, use s'avre trs simple, autand that the manual is well particulirement RALIS. But it's true that at first sight, the machine can dconcerter novices with its avalanche of buttons.

SOUND QUALITY

The prampli may seem cold, but in fact, Focusrite has chosen to make a prampli grain-free, transparent and pchu for the user to make his sound with the other modules (especially the Vintage Harmonics and Tube Sound). So cold but with a lot of potatoes and its own trs.
The compressor is simply good trs. While it does not make big cuts (it is rack ddi voice, it must be remembered) but it is trs musical, transparent, adding a lgre heat. Rgler very easy too.
The Tube Sound Expander desseur and work well, without being exceptional.
The Vintage Harmonics is an effect trs rpendu little and really excellent. You can really do with that taken trs typs moduel.
The Eq is a bit DSsev rglages because its got my act enough.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 2 years and I RALIS superb recordings. So yes, his stepfather lgrement little cold to beginners (but also a Focusrite sound!) But you can makes the complexion with all other modules. So a machine trs trs complte and think well, with a modern sound, clear and Dfine. Trs also good with acoustic guitars.

I bought the VMP 3 years ago, he left to be exact. Since it NRTEE studio. In other words, it rotates!
APRS intensive use are my remarks:
The pramp is correct and are couraging nanmoins groundwork, amplify a signal without dtriorer. I note that this level is a little 'dry'.

The work of the optical expander hlas is too loud if you start using a very sensitive microphone and whose earnings should be the boost the optical gnre Artfact widely heard.

The vingtage Harmonic ... For use on dynamic mics to restore "the air" with a large capsule microphone, it DGRAD signal.

The optical compressor: is not bad but the lack of rglage from a standard compressor I miss ...

Tube: umrique formulation of analog saturation, it must push its limits to be useful and does its work. So I prfr invest in a micro light ...

The qualisation ... Srieusement is not a qual! the gadget is not effective, zero-always in the studio but why not do some work on live?? But it is the level of the tweezers is not as straightforward rglage!

The Dhess: J'vite in the studio, I use some good plugins prfre and scne it is less effective than a good console (as qualisation).

Conclusion: APRS 3 years of use, I keep it because it's still even a real Swiss Army knife, if the sound quality is not worth a dlivr TL5051 (remaining in the m my game price but uglier two or three sections run on this device, the pramp the compressor when the catch is easy, when the expander may be ambient noise or the pre-registrations.
In my opinion, not get wet too, buy The elements spars I think a better solution without risking breaking the bank.
