I think this mic is a phenom for instruments, acoustic guitar was awesome. Female vocal was also pretty awesome, clean, some make vocals are great on it if they are higher pitched. My rich baritone voice is not very warm on it though. Every one I record on it sounds great, the only one I don't like on it is me. I want to try a Neumann U47 or something to see if it's just in my head or is it really that good. I expect a warmer sound on me, more "Shocking warmth" but never quite satisfied.

My mic pre is the blue tube from presonus with a groovetube in place of the tube. I want to get the Presonus ADL600 or avalon AD2022 to see if the quality of the NT1a improves...Using a 192 delta audiophile card from m-audio and nuendos 4.

OVERALL OPINION

Overall, This is a great multi-purpose mic for any engineer. The sound is highly detailed and transparent. This mic made my guitar shine, even while connected to my lower end mic pres. Sounds good on everything I have tried it on so far...drum overheads, acoustic guitar, vocals. For the price you cant beat it. If you are in the market for an all-purpose, affordable mic, look no further. Very wamr , clear and crisp vocals that you will love for any genre of music. Not too mention they way it sounds with your guitar, it will be very clean. There arent too many mics out on the market that will give you the quality of this. Not too mention the price is great as well. You can compare this too some of the shure higher version mics. Make sure you have a shock mount with this mic though, you will notice a hugh difference if you don’t have one.

OVERALL OPINION

Use primarily for singing, but also for making guitar / amp, Soprano Saxophone, Alto, Tenor and Baritone ... There's honestly that good over the whole spectrum ...
The sound is nice, I find the little bump in the acute rather pleasant ...
The "sssss" are not too bad eventually, it goes nice with a little grain, I
I adopt it for life ...
cheaper than the NTK, I hesitated and then I say, do I hear the difference when There's a lamp or not? if necessary there will always be the preamp? and a small TLAUDIO!

Upd 24/04/08: The Mic is ultimately fragile, inside the capsule came off after a year of service ... 48 volts and no longer ... So ...

The Rode NT1000 is a large diaphragm condenser microphone that is designed for use in the recording studio.  I wouldn't bring this mic outside of the studio as it is too fragile for live shows and I generally wouldn't use a condenser outside of the studio anyway.  The mic has a cardioid polar pick up pattern and will pick up the full range of frequencies in human hearing (20 Hz to 20 KHz).

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Rode NT1000 for about a year or more and I've found it to be a very strong sounding microphone.  Rode always amazes me with the quality of the microphones that they make considering how cheap they are.  This Australian company has a great microphone in the NT1000 as it overall has a great sound quality.  Of course it doesn't sound as great as the true top tier of microphones made by the likes of Neumann and other top end companies, but it comes pretty close considering how big of a price discrepancy there is.  I have used the Rode NT1000 in a variety of situations and have found that it can be considered an all purpose microphone as it sounds good on most applications.  I have used it with good results for acoustic guitar, vocals, and acoustic piano, as well as horns like saxophone and trumpet.  I am looking at this microphone from the view point of a home studio owner looking to get the most bang for their buck, which is exactly what the NT1000 will give you.  I can't say that I would recommend it to a professional studio owner, but for home studio owners this is the perfect microphone.  The Rode NT1000 is a microphone with a wide and detailed sound that is only about $300 USD.  If you are looking for a nice microphone that is cheap while still maintaining a level of quality, the Rode NT1000 is a great option.
