UTILIZATION

The settings in this table are of extreme simplicity is its greatest asset!
I had to take a look at the manual for one or two functions, the rest is all alone in ten minutes.
Management scenes, effects presets or "Fat Channel" is also amazingly simple.
Same for shipments to, you see everything in a glance. We almost feel of an analog machine, where each function has its associated knob.
I've tested a 01v, the presonus is much higher on this point.

I am frankly disappointed on the other hand on one point: the white between each scene change. A tenth of a second unacceptable!
I am often musician alone without sound engineer. I use a lot my loop pedal to build my instrumentations. I wanted to change the scene during the song depending on the instruments I record while loops running in background ... Well, it's messed with the Presonus, white in music each instrument change! So I am forced to add a second analog table, just two stereo tracks, a "loop out" other "output table / direct micro". It also works, but it's a shame.

The other weak point: MIDI. Yes it is nice to change the scene, changing effects with a MIDI foot pedal, but it's still frankly limited. I had hoped to at least control the mute pedal, especially as the console is easily controllable via Firewire with the bundled software, why not MIDI?

Regarding the sound, I'm pretty satisfied for the digital age.
Preamps are compelling for a small table in this category.
The reverbs are quite nice, it does not seem to me they are worse than on my Lexicon MX400.
Compressors and equalizers fulfill their role properly, although I quickly realized they were not up to my analog compressors and equalizers. At the same time, considering the price of this table, it would have been the height it sounds better!

OVERALL OPINION

I chose this table to replace my big rack effects 40kg and my analogue desk.
My back is very satisfied, and the shock of my car!

This is a very good Swiss Army knife, nothing grand, but very suitable for small services with a mid-range sound.
Although I was disappointed by this white between scenes and the weakness of MIDI, I do it again this choice without hesitation.

However, I would stress that I see that the only criticism that can be found in this table is the lack of motorized faders.
I am not convinced that this is a defect, but rather a guarantee of reliability and stability over time.
motorized faders quickly lose details with time ...
however I sampling rate is relatively low with 48khz and it is my opinion the only weak point of this wonderful machine.
on all other points this table do wonders and I doubt that we find on the market as value for money.
16 integrated preamp worth more expensive than the table itself ... one wonders how PreSonus have managed this feat.
For users of analogue desk there should be a small adjustment but in two / three days time is set.
Another important thing ... this table is absolutely not a control surface ... useless to try to set the faders to control the midi tracks in your DAW. it will not work.
This table offers a huge opportunity and allows professional quality work without any problems live as homestudio.
with the new version of one of presonus studio, integrating this software to further increased. little is now mainstream settings for each track of the table in each track studio one.
I would do this choice without a doubt and I looked forward to the next prsonus table.

UTILIZATION

Yes this is rackable and this is the way I have used.
(By the way it is super light).

This is a console 8 Mono + 4 Stereo. Sold for 16 tracks but beware only 12 tracks.
4 For: It is light but it is a small console is sold as such is no inconsistency.

The EQ is a bit light for only 3 frequencies consoles and a 31-band EQ for output.
For AUX EQ 31 bands not to manage any Larsens on returns must be

The compression / limiter & co are easily accessible and parameterize for each band.

I like the MONO output for wedge ... and back, it is convenient.

The sampling ranges from 44.1 to 48KHz, but it sounds really good and natural.

Acquired in August and sold last month to finance 16.4.2.
For my part I think this little console is a success because

Who needed more slices and AUX I went to the model above.
But it is not the same price.

So if the number of channels and outputs you will it is a very good quality / price ratio.

UTILIZATION

Note that I use the Presonus Studiolive only as sound card, and not mixing desk / live recording. So use a little devious. Used with a powerful PC designed specifically for computer music, and thus with the correct chipset firewire. For audio streams, like many pro even on PC, I always preferred the Firewire to USB for stability foolproof.
For installation, the date of purchase, immediately recognized, not the least hassle, tested immediately on projects cubase loaded (multiple instances of diva, multiple instances of kontakt, plugs and good lovers on the slopes and master. ..), recording a voice and two guitars live and in stereo to test the machine, one passing through a stereo auxiliary (eventide space) is in tears, on the same project cubase with plugs on recorded tracks, all within a 5 millisecond latency input / output .... in less than 30 minutes and without manual by the way ... seller that uses a mac was amazed, it works better than at home, he had trouble believe it, but I told him on the phone, it was he who insisted me to try before you buy .. .

I love everything about this sound card, and especially his ability to forget. One downside, but inherent in the product design and target segment, it may be fragile, so handle with care, with a good fly, in the case of intensive use in sound. In my case, static in my home studio, this is not a problem.

Effects are limited but effective and sufficient for me to live performance of songs from backing tracks.
Graphic and parametric equalization is possible. It is a small table and therefore returns are limited to 4. The preamps are transparent and very good quality. I did not notice breath (I never pushed to their max gains must say)

UTILIZATION

I will focus on the practical side of the table that is not a concession to quality. I use it live and at home. I pilot from a mac and the sound is composed of full range RCF. The sound is excellent and it is a pleasure to use. 2 or 3 hours to adapt to them (this is my first digital table) and no longer opens the procedure.
I made recordings, quite a few live for a year now, never to worry: I am delighted
Of course this is a small table, the faders are manual, limited effects, but what fun to use anyway. The top are the controls that can be deported on an ipad (and even an iphone for returns management): it is in the public and tweaked the settings live: that happiness!

I once had an efx souncraft which worked perfectly but digital is another world.

The value for money is very good and if I had to redo this choice is without hesitation.

Basically, it is a digital console automation without physical, ie that the faders do not move on their own, although their level can be programmed scenes. This is a good thing when you know the fragility of a motorized fader, and its price, which weighs on models so equipped.

What might be missing: you can not use for the external effects, except to sacrifice a portion of the console to the effect return.

UTILIZATION

Use deserves a bit of look to it. Do not expect to get the best from the first night.

Use the supplied software helps a lot of things. In the absence of displays on the table, it allows to visualize much better compressors and equalizers.

The very best thing is to make it work with the iPad: a free app and is available very ergonomic. Your table must be connected to a computer that is connected to the iPad via a wifi adhoc. The creation of this network can be complicated, but once configured, everything works well.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for a year. We made a dozen dates with and a studio session.

Presonus made a smart choice to provide a tool devoid of features "comfort" very expensive (motorized faders, displays complex, multi effects). They were able to offer a quality product at a price accessible, suitable both for studio than live.

Beware though, the product is really interesting when it is used with the iPad, which also needs to have a computer connected to the table. If you already have these devices, go for it.

Personally, I love this little compact table, which allows me to make virtual balances when we do not have a soundman, to record our concerts multitrack rework later. At first, we recorded our répèts same, and everyone could walk away with the mix of the recording without his instrument, in order to work at home.

UTILIZATION

This table is a simple and intuitive, the manual is not really necessary though very well done. It contains the same tutorials for the sound, the use of effects and compressors, the choice of microphones and even ... Jambalaya recipe for 20 people (yes!). There is a manual paper handling and a more comprehensive PDF.

OVERALL OPINION

Owner of its big sister the StudioLive 24.4.2, I bought this console for home and small clubs. Did not want or need to lug around a big console in most configurations where I play I wanted something light, I can carry in a single bag without breaking my back and without taking up too much space in the car or on stage. Achieved has found its place in the boot of my Audi A3 (without lowering the seats) to my guitar amp (a George Tornado Duo a good size), my pedalboard and my accessories such as guitar stand, microphone stands and tote bag with various cables and microphones!

I got it there a couple of weeks and I immediately used on stage the next day and then recording three days later.

Likes: almost everything, ease of use, size and light weight, quality preamps that go far beyond the competition from Yamaha and Tascam, ergonomics, MIDI ...

I regret: the lack of motorized faders (as the other two consoles) but it also explains the very reasonable price of the baby. On the other hand, the volumes, once stored, electronically back in their place, an LED display lets you know where the cursors were positioned at the storage. Another regret, the seen-meter input mode only pre-fader and not post-fader, but again, on a table as compact and tight in budget, we will not complain. We have money for butter and butter but the dairy creamer and it would certainly be more expensive and in this case we can choose then the 16.4.2 or 24.4.2 ...

The value for money is good and the tables Presonus being well above their Japanese competitors for me the choice was obvious. Now everything is about value for money. I was where I worked with Yamaha, Tascam, Soundcraft, and I'm definitely won over by these tables.

Having already made an album of jazz (Corsica Jazz Project) with 24.4.2, I noticed the quality of this material. I worked so far with modules MOTU, I find the preamps Presonus of a much higher quality: clarity, a larger sample, and as the "heat" and more, have taken a quality Analog almost breath less. Club, the 16.0.2 and works wonders at home, it allows me to work in comfort.
