UTILIZATION

the table is quickly taken in hand for easy use live, identical to be used as sound card. The fat channel (compressor, limiter, equalizer per slice) is very simple and quite effective.

the manual is clear enough.

not breathing, a priori the sound is good but I did try that on small distribution system moderate quality so I do not get me too ...

I was initially excited about this console that I use as a conventional console for my external inputs but also as a mixing desk for audio projects on logic. It's fantastic 16 inputs and 16 other internal entries! But I started having galleys with the driver that is already pretty weird to install on Mac. Then the firewire connection is not very reliable especially as I spend 400 to 800 (imac). I quite often freeze and my research on the web revealed soon enough that I am not alone.
And then last week, blackout, more power supply except for a small light on the control panel ...
Repeating a ride on the net, it seems that this console is very fragile and, logically enough, considering the price will be fucked with low-end components ...
The rating is severe but I'm tired of pulling my hair out over unreliable equipment and more ... this is for my home studio, I imagine the anger of those who use it live ...

It sounds good at ergonomics is a real treat. I confessed that the firewire is handy for recording. But I think the system has yet evolved. Three months of use (about 2 gigs a week ...) she planted a time ... But for the price paid, it is a good product.

Rackée console for a small adjustment in a flight case RoadReady 19R, it allows us to record live with extreme ease via the Firewire port. Unlike its big sister, 16.4.2 does not seem to suffer from reliability problems and the updates of firmware that have made improvements over time.

OVERALL OPINION

Used for 3 years for various concerts, it has never caused a problem. Digital brings the benefits of incorporating the fact that all settings: gate, compression, equalization ... The conversion quality is perhaps not the best for use in the studio but is still quite sufficient for the concerts.

Wow, where to start, I've owned the Presonus Studio Live 16.4 board for about 2 months and have come to the conclusion that I just didn't know how good sound could be without a rack full of gear. I'm using this for FoH sound in a youth facility, also recording all services live, and doubling as a studio mixer to lay down tracks.

UTILIZATION

1) Amazing preamps, they sound great recording at least as good as previous presonus problems and better than the digi003 IMHO. 2) Racks full of onboard gear easy to customize for your studio/live use, save, copy, delete start from scratch, use presets, digital effects, they thought of everything with this board. Chances are if it's not included there will be a firmware update for it soon. 3) Can link up to 4 Studio Live consoles (Plus they have a metal piece that holds them together to make it 'feel' like 1 console) this is a truely innovative design, record up to 32 tracks simultaneously @ 44.1k DAWS standard will dump right into your favorite audio suite. 4) Generous 16 XLR inputs, 6 Aux Sends, plus 2 built in Effects Sends, 2 Stereo Aux Returns for additional effects/processing, 4 Sub Groups, Tape in and out great for MP3 hook-up, individual firewire returns to nearly anything on the board so if you want to sequence tracks it's a snap.

OVERALL OPINION

I have no doubt this board will be a favorite among artists/sound engineers for years to come, there is not another board that can compete as far as sound quality, to features, to price ratio. The best part is it's 98% digital so every setting can be saved for multiple artists/senerio setups, it even shows you where the faders and knobs should be. And presonus has noted that the board is completely independent from the recording interface so there is no reason to ever worry about a 'computer problem' killing your FoH sound

I have therefore taken the plunge, I bought the presonus 16-4-2 after having long hesitated because not easy to leave my analog consoles that sounded great.
