    Gretsch Catalina Rock

Gretsch Catalina Rock 26"Published on 03/07/05 at 15:00
I got this set at a local official Gretsch dealer, supposedly the number one dealer in new jersey or sumthing like that. I paid 828 dollars for the shell pack including two floor toms, mount tom, snare, and bass drum.

the 26 inch bass drum, if uned correctly and hit hard, sounds very nice. A low, deep and resonant tone. The mount om too sounds very warm as the other floor toms. The snare is very loud and powerful

The 18" floor tom is a little big, and i would have preferred a 16" and a 14". Also the evans head that come with the set dont sound very good with the set, i recommend the remo weatherking ebony pinstripe for the toms. And an aquarian superkick for the kick drum. I also recommen…

I also recommend mini Emads for the toms and snare, these restrict the overtones.

The construction is done very well, only problem is the wrap is a little loose on the bass, but everything is fine on the other drums.

Great Set, Beautiful, Perfect but recommend different head.

I use it for around 3 months, lacquer "Black Sparkle." Particularity to the monster, is its size: 26 for GC, 14, 16, 18 for toms. I like least is that the indoor finishing drums, it's not pretty pretty ....
I have several "drum kit": Pearl Export, PDP CX, V-drums, Gretsch has the advantage of look "unusual" level sound is heavy, serious, with some harmonic flotante sweet enough but with a pitch low.
qualitprix the report is unbeatable, 1190 a drum kit of this size is not found, has less than 4000 meter or 5000 custom home in Pearl, Gretsch, DW, Spaun, Orange County and consors.
I choose to remake, but is especially intended for a certain style of music ...

    - How long have you use it?
    For about a year ...

    - What is so special that you like most and least?
Goodies: good large size to play the great big rock. A kick of 26 excellent and good tom 18 '. The finish is in Symaps 'Swirl Nitron'.
Cons: a little light wood and very rough inside. The sound of 14 which may be a bit short. The snare that does ultimately nothing more ...

    - Have you tried many other models before buying it?
    Oh yes!

    - How would you rate the quality / price?
The value for money is excellent for a Bastoche of these dimensions and at this price. Excellent for those who do not play every day ... And it's still Gretsch! )

    - With experience, you do again this…

For what I want to do, yes, without hesitation even though it has some flaws ...
