This small drumkit is a marvel!
I bought it a month ago, and I use it in both a combo and a big band. The first time I took it to play a concert, some of the musicians with whom I play wondered if it was a joke and I was really going to play on what looked like a children's kit (actually that's what I like about it). But when they heard the sound, they were laughing because they were impressed.
Price / quality ratio very good.However, I only use the snare drum stand from the hardware pack included. The rest of the hardware I use is basic Pearl; simple and stable.  Four colours are available: Black, Dark Blue, Orange and Brushed Aluminium. I opted for the latter.What a look!
In terms of sound, it depends on the skins (Remo are standard).Personally I have changed to Evans, but it is a matter of taste.
Without hesitation I would choose this kit again - I've never played on such an enjoyable kit! The only downside is the bass drum spurs, which need a drum key. This is not very practical ... but the fastenings are easily replaced by wing nuts! The bags, two covers for the drums and hardware, are very handy too.
Need I say more? You could maybe add a "groove wedge" from Yamaha, a piece of wood (maple preferred) to improve the sound of rimshots, which are not easy on a 12" snare drum.
Via the forum, I've discussed this with Peter Erskine himself who recommended this kit (without being an endorsee) and recorded an album with it. Another user is Dave Weckl, who I've seen in a DVD, although I can't remember which.

I have a few months the new model painted purple finish mettalic. I had an old orange model for two years that I separate myself from.
no fundamental change between the old and the new version but very nice improvements like the stool using a clamping principle type cymbal stand with ring (more convenient than the screw square that distorts everything) and the reinforcement of the frame foot which was quite fragile. The lacquer finish is impeccable for this price. The black dot is the DC 12 that will always be a cup next to a real CC 14 (acquisition of a free floating maple piccolo)
The other drumkit on which I played were not the hip-gig so the comparison is difficult.

The quality / price excellent. It is quite easy to find the kit cheaper than the advertised price (899).

If I ever buy a new drumkit I return to the same kit as not pro, I only play in peties room and this kit is perfect for ca. The game is very special cover practice.
