Trs simple config
Edition prcise enough even if one regrets the lack of a VGA port as the Mackie (but hey the Fostex is 3x cheaper) ...
There are a lot of shortcuts your checks some functions, just bone up on manual ... Trs is clear.

SOUNDS

Magnto who do not plant and provides a good quality conversion trs.

OVERALL OPINION

I work for 1 year with and I produced several albums in DIFFERENT styles (poprock, mtal, song, jazz ...) all Distribus ...
Anyway, the D2424 is a magnto!
There is no magic, for it respects against the signal and that is what I expected from him.

I also Dtd boss with Akai, Fostex old (D160) and Adat.
The DTD is a good alternative when you do not afford a system that ProTools and we can not stand the vagaries of a computer ...

Connection: standard for this type of digital 24-track machines, ADAT format and converts it into analog.

SAMPLING: is more than enough, no need to 32/192 What's (for after the stream MP3!)

support: dtd classic can export your HD on another wave or dvd ram (call for compatibility Sennheiser France) and also in format fostex I forget the exact format, if you want your customer to come back, you understand you have to do!!

sync: the machine still used in master sync pm (TCM) not bad, never had any desire to sync the machine tc smpte, the card is super expensive about 1000 Euros minus. Save smpte solution on the tracks 24 as the old!!

UTILIZATION

General configuration, the best design flexibility for analog recording, auto punch, undo / redo, not for editing screen (not even optional) ........ feasible, but cumbersome for loaves of setting up and copy paste to the sheet please, like the old 3348 on the Sony (for short, they recognize !!!),

Converters restore order rather transparente.Si upstream there is good microphones, good preamp. and above all the know-how ..... no real problems with her. almost everything is!!

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years, full galley soft, crash, dédrop (punch out) some random sound cuts in dédrop (silence is turned!) Then back 2.3 seconds later. chelou !!!!.

features that lovin: it is small (3 or 4 inches), the remote will pick up the full front and easily calable between insipid (100mm), if disponbibles. levels of the modules are under your nose. The converters are not evils for the price.

special lovin it: buy an extension for the remote, I find it a bit noisy, and the options are too expensive or énexistantes.

no chance for crashes, but if the bike is stable, it is a good substitute for a magnetic analog machine for its interesting (converters), but not perfect and the options for work in the studio.

OVERALL OPINION

I had an Akai DR8 and Roland VSR-880 trs silent as well, but I need more tracks to record acoustic drums.
I use it daily for 1 year recording studio, not a crash! I think it's a small wonder!
Trs good dynamic recording and playback 24bits/48khz. In 24bit/96kHz is the killing! Reduces even if the storage capacity of hard disk and the number of tracks 8.
I bought 1400 euros hand and I do not really regret!

For storage on DVD Ram (their home Fostex distributor announces over 1000 euro + VAT for the drive as an option of course), but theoretically any drive can read and write to DVD RAM should (????) function. here a ASUS 1814BL (IDE connection) on the dvd ram type 4 light curtains to see it works very well as a back up wave in 24bits!

I put 7 for storing huge audio data with very little employment in the hard dik pity that the writer is not affordable for transferring tracks to pc

UTILIZATION

Not quite: the hard disk was not provided but a 80gb maxtor formatting ernviron 10 am, read the doc before because this is the typical configuration for formatting (16 or 24 bits).
Editing sound? The metronome can be customized in terms of editing landlords better to have the doc on his knees!
The manual is for my taste a little too oriented but very Proffessional Pontille on his explanations

least the edition of landlords is not super accurate, no transfer pc without a ministerial portfolio! but there's a Tip!

I have not tested the other thing is that I wanted a robust reliable magneto although noisy (because of the fan on the Bay of HD it is good to turn or renplacer) but what a punch! !
value for money: 1800 free HD at the time and VERY expensive options in exchange 24pistes as inputs or outputs in high yield and we are not stolen too

If I had to make the election again? Today a faith so we opened the machine is basically a PC in FAT 16 with 2 IDE connection and 3 audio cards 8 inputs and 8 outputs each. we just put on a drive that the DVD Ram surroundings.Its 30euro beast can export the audio to a PC and also import it (useful for the creations on pc with cubase not need to record the sessions) are important in single file lane 1, 2 ect ... and the sound comes out with more punch no desyncronisation tracks frankly Nikel!
