[NAMM] Guild debuts two new basses

NAMM 2014 has seen the introduction of two new Guild bass guitars, one each from the Newark St. Collection and GSR Series.

The M-85 Bass from the Newark St. Collection boasts a semi-hollow an arched spruce top and maple back and sides body with a single cutaway and big “Bi-Sonic” bass pickup. The body also features ivory white body binding, black/white purfling, partial center-block bracing and dual finger rests. The bass has a 30.75” scale length, bound three-piece mahogany neck with a vintage-style “soft U” profile, 21-fret rosewood fingerboard with 12” radius and pearloid dot inlays. Volume and tone controls, combo bridge/tailpiece with rosewood saddles, Grover tuners, and nickel hardware round off the features.

The M-85 Bass is available in Jet Black gloss finish and carries a price tag of $1,699.00, hardshell case included.

For its part, the Aristocrat-style hollowbody of the GSR M-85 II Bass has a single laminated spruce arched top with parallel tone bar bracing, mahogany back and sides and stately black-and-white binding. The unbound three-piece mahogany-maple-mahogany neck has a 30.75" scale length and a 9.5”-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 medium jumbo frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. It sports two Guild “Bi-Sonic” Bass pickups, two Volume and two Tone controls, 3-position toggle switch, 2-position mini-toggle switch, Gotoh Die-Cast tuners, and nickel-plated hardware.

The GSR M-85 II is available in Cherry finish and sells for $4499.99, deluxe hardshell included.
