I ordered this from thomann bass in November and following a stock, I have received only mid-December and there, oh surprise, it is marked made in china above while everyone says that it is made in Indonesia (what you see on the photos thomann) good, a little disappointed from (yes I know, I boycott as much as I can the made in china but they are my personal opinions) I watch the beast, good, RAS, tweaks to refine type string height to fall, stick to straighten but everything else is pretty good, nice color and beautiful glaze thin enough, the key is finished by evil against and the frets are not finished very well either, once bilge radius but will do later because it is not bad at all; humbucker pickups are downright good, fairly quiet, it is even surprising, I had planned in the near future to change by real Hofner but there no need (whether it is not real HOFNER seen hiding underneath the plastic stuck in the microphone so that you can screw onto the holder or the real HOFNER are made in China or Indonesia ... but that we will never know, globalization is sometimes secretive ...).

UTILIZATION

ergonomics proven long ago with very good access to acute;
it sounds as soon as the branch but I think this bass is played with a pick priority, this is where it is strongest, you get the sound you want with it as long as is amp that goes behind.

SOUNDS

microphones have a sound that I taped so they respond to the slightest touch of a pick but I have not come back yet

OVERALL OPINION

I've had only 2 weeks but I'm on it every day after twice already changed the strings to find my sound and redid the electronic part of the plate switches and pots with resistors 1/2w metal layers and condos polypropylene (cable originally with SMD components, yuck, that the dynamics of food).
the guys in my small group of "kiffent serious" as they say in jeuns, it gives a new direction to our sound.

Made in Indonesia, not in China, which is enough for me. The features can be read in previous reviews. Overall, it looks and feels nice. No rough edges on the wood, no glue drips or any other such blunders that you usually expect on an instrument at this price point. In short, it has that German look.

USE

Short and adjustable neck. When you are used to classic basses, it's a bit surprising because the bearings are a bit different, but after a while switching back the other way around is disturbing. It's easy to get used to its ergonomic design.
In terms of weight, it's so light that it's a bit disconcerting.
I had a Rick 4001 and I had always the impression of lugging around a concrete block.

SOUND

The sound is what I've been looking for 25 years.
Although forking out 2000 euros isn't that alluring.
It's round, warm and without too much sustain. I took up the pick again, yes, I did, don't laugh. That's the way it sounds best!
I play an old Roland Cube 100 or a 350W Fender Bassman TV (it's not mine, I don't have that kind of money).
Or connected directly to the console, for recording, with several plug-ins.
Its THE sound I wanted and now I have it. What should I complain about?
What about for slap? Well, no, it's to play bass, you know, that round and deep sound you can hear on rock and roll and many pop songs.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been playing it since February 2012. I put my other bass aside and now this one has become my favorite one.
First of all because it's beautiful.
And because, frankly speaking, for this price, I keep saying myself that in the worst case scenario, I could hang it on the wall as decoration, but no, it's incredibly easy to play and it sounds fine.
I love it. I often find myself just playing it softly, unplugged, caressing it. It's addictive.
The original strings are useless. I replaced them with Höfner flatwound and there's no comparison. They are very expensive, but they are really worth it.
I also changed the pots, to replace the hideous original black ones. And I removed the pickguard, unfortunately the small screw holes are visible. Although you can't see them 6ft away.
The tuners seem a bit cheap and they don't inspire much confidence. That said, the guitar stays in tune, but I plan to replace them with some Höfner, even if I have to do a bit of drilling.
It's obviously a must have for Beatles fans. It's a looker onstage. I know what I'm talking about: When I play guitar I use a Rickenbacker 330 and a 350, and it's similar, the nods are unmistakable.
And the sound...
Sigh.
I'll keep it. In a moment of madness, I'd buy another one, in black. To have a couple.

Bass entry of clbre 500 / 1 Mc Cartney.

It is a vritable Hfner, but manufactures in Indonsie
Trs handle end 22 frets (equivalent electric guitar) and therefore trs enjoyable play.
Level rglages there a micro volume, then two slecteurs to activate the neck pickup, bridge pickup or both, there also slecteur a "solo" that can boost lg rately the microphones, which can be dtach the mix (which is useful when you need to put you in front of fawn-off).

Cot finish, nothing wrong I do not blame (I possde lot of brands of guitars (Gibson and Fender) and if it is necessary to make a comparative price / finishing, well I put 10/10 This Hfner.

Finally it is obvious that the Beatles Loock is guaranteed!

UTILIZATION

As mentioned above, the mache is a rgal, a highway, I am based guitarist and so I find my copied without problem (not seem to have their hands full as a pr precision bass).

It is trslgre, although balance (sitting as standing)

Access in acute and no problem until the 19 am check box.

Conditional to the strings of Hfner net flat, we get it right away a good sound.

SOUNDS

I am a bass player in training and we take much of the pieces in a register Varis Rock (Deep Purple, Jimmy Hendrix, telephone, Cabrel, Capdevielle ,...).
As receiver, I use a Fender Rumble 100

As a result I have a low precision, but I wanted this to Hfner On a more blues / jazz, even when I tried it in the register above!
And surprise, that of happiness, a round, warm, non agressifqui perfectly fulfills all training (drums, two guitars and a song).

The sounds range from a severe acute trs a well rounded acoustic, I like all the sounds and the hollow body and a cot rgal.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been three weeks that I have this bass (command Thomann in Germany).
I tried a lot of MODEL in the low electric "classic", to be sure there is good, see good rev's, but I wanted something DIFFERENT (and form), and a match my search.

I see no point on this ngatif low, although the original 1900 MODEL forcment Euros must have more, but I did not try.

The ratio quality price is excellent, because for a price in line with the copies, you have the logo Hfner Loock and original.

I would do this choice, and I recommend this bass for Beatles fans but for any bassist looking for Difference.

Really an investment budget for grandplaisir (remember the team rope nets Hfner flat).

Black Beatles bass.
Manufactured in Asia, which means bad quality components assembled with care: The finish is good but you only get your money's worth, nothing more, the wood seems to be plywood, the tuners are really cheap.
I only got it recently and the jack came off already.
I tightened the neck and adjusted the height of the strings, with care not to go too hard on it, and the result is okay.

USE

I read all reviews before buying this bass. They all said it had a pleasant and small neck.
Which is true, but be careful, when I say small it's really SMALL. I might have big hands (my other bass has a fat neck), but this bass feels more like a banjo! The strings are too close to each other, my fingers don't fit between them, so I play with my fingertips.

SOUND

It has lots of controls but, personally, I only use one position and simply vary more or less the mids and bass controls.
It's exactly what I was expecting: It's not a double bass but it really sounds like wood! It has a truly nice and characteristic sound, although it may sound like cardboard guitar if you are too demanding. I like it a lot, but to get it sound really pro, you need a compressor, EQ, and what not.
I use it to write songs in my home studio and I could also use it for gigs, but more like a gag than a real instrument.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for several months and I'm entirely satisfied with it. I got this bass to have a different sound and it didn't disappoint me.
To me, it's a great toy, I love to play with it, it's light as a feather, you can take it anywhere with you and, in terms of looks, it rocks!

It doesn't like sound much unplugged, but you can still hear it and, since I have it lying around in the living room, I often just pick it up and start playing...and as a result I'm playing much more now than before!
It's a good value for money, since it doesn't cost much but you can have fun with it.
It's okay as a secondary bass, but definitely not as your main bass.
Otherwise, why would there be another version that costs ten times as much?

this bass is Indonesian, which reduces the manufacturing cost. is the entry level for this kind of low. AC is a real Hofner.
The bridge is old therefore adjustable as on the jazz guitar. The handle is very round profile 50 years, loyalty to his year of birth 1956 I believe. It is narrow at nut 42mm. The strings are thereby reconciled. the pitch of 30 inches saves 20% to the vibrating length and therefore in boxes, the box is 12th at the 10th of a traditional bass. UTILIZATION

If you're a Beatles fan, it must be part of the harem of stringed instruments. For a guitarist who wants to get a bass is perfect.

I bought this Hofner Ignition bass at Thomann in 2010. I think I paid €225 for it.
At this price point, I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the "real" 500/1 or even with the Contemporary version... but it's definitely not a down-market bass: It's easy to play, decent finish, vintage sound... In short, as a longtime Beatles fan, I'm not disappointed.

USE

I can only confirm what others have written in the forums and other reviews, this bass was conceived for guitar players! I can understand that for Paul McCartney, originally a guitar player (which he still plays, even on many Beatles songs), apart from the price, which certainly was important factor back then, this adaptation ease must have certainly played a role when he chose this bass. I'm also a guitar player, I only played bass occasionally, and I was never comfortable playing it. But in this case, it's a real treat!

SOUND

You obviously need to love "round and "warm" sounds. That's what I was looking for. Listen to the first Beatles albums, it's not too far from that.
However, as everybody says, you absolutely need to change the strings! I just did and can confirm that it's like night and day.
I didn't get the Hofner set at Thomann because I think it's price is prohibitive (are the strings made of gold?), instead I got a short scale flatwound set by GHS from an Ebay seller, which cost me 21.50 euros.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been six months since I've been playing this bass at home and I don't regret my purchase.
In the end, I give it only 9/10 because it's not the best bass guitar out there, but given its price...

For features, well it's more or less a copy Flights from the 500 / 1 that she is too CHRE, especially knowing that Macca was chosen because it was more affordable than a fender. .'s era.

First time for me as I touch this kind of low. I already had a jazz bass and a bass shortscale supersonic. For a guitarist like me who is more loving and inclination typical gibson bridge saddle diving is great.

I've never played the real 500 / 1, but I read on forums that bcp it sounded more like its big sister the Germanic model twice as expensive in hofner china that has an inner beam ( CT500).
So yes, a very warm person, full with little sustain. the typical sound for which we turn to a Hofner. if you love the Beatles, or Air, or what his bass jazz / pop found on albums by Amy Winehouse, Medeski / martin & wood etc, this bass is for you (unless you have a bank account allowing you to invest in the German model).
pity that the German microphones can not be adjusted on the ignition, as a would be terrible m'enfin .. I have not said my last word, that student may be the question ...

- String roundwound must absolutely be changed by Flatwound (they could go home with them!) I love

No need to add anything here.
But its weight is...strange! I even thought it had to do with the manufacturing quality, because I didn't know this type of bass. And then you get used to it and really appreciate it.
The finish isn't that good....some small details don't go unnoticed. But, for the price, it's overall aspect is quite all right and easily deceives the enemy.

USE

The neck is amazing, especially compared to my Fender Precision and my Squier Fender JazzBass.
After some time to get used to it, it becomes very easy, even too easy! Going back to my Precision was hard, the space between notes are different, since the neck is so slim.
Although it doesn't slide as smoothly as my Precision.
The entire neck is easily accessible, good design and weight... like a toy!

SOUND

It sounds just like I had read it did: Warm, round and yet very different to my Fender with a Fender rumble 150.
The original strings don't do it justice, I just ordered a flatwound Höfner set.
It's very, very close to the Beatles sound. The shape of the body obviously affects the sound and I often have the impression of playing a guitar. Easy and effective controls.
I love and often play pure sounds, without any effects and try to get the best out of the bass with my Fender amp. In this sense, it's a perfect complement to my PB and JB, very nice for pop, rock, blues, and jazz.
I wouldn't use it for more vicious rock, metal, punk, not even for funk. Slap is definitely not its thing (nor mine!).

OVERALL OPINION

I've had it for a couple of days and I got used to it very quickly, since it's very easy, even unplugged.
I bought at Thomann for €289. It's an excellent value for money and the ideal complement to the classic JazzBass, Precision and other such sounds (I also have a Cort Action).
It's very beautiful and you can easily forget its manufacturing defects and learn to enjoy playing with it and its McCartney personality.
For the money, it's a must have for Beatles fans, beginners, guitar players who play low tones, collectors, and also for bassists like me looking for new sounds and new ways to play. Besides, it doesn't take up too much space!
I'll try the German model when I have the chance...
