    SOUNDS

    i use 18"RCF 300w 1992(italian made-awesome speakers),15"celestion green back 100w 1991 whit one head 100w d'larios(england) and cajavec(yugoslavian made in 1984)150w monster head GA100B
because on d'larious the bass control is missing when i play whit the j-pickup is like overdrive sound from massive tube head
i mostly play the who and john entwistle technicque of plucking p.s.not sloping and poping

    OVERALL OPINION

ther is not a single dead spot on this bass like fenders have(9 fret on d string)the harmonics the playability, there are only one thing that bother me.i payed cash and the guy in yamaha just gives me tha bass whit nothing,no tools no free cable i mean nothing i can not adjust the e string i need the lower her down just a little and can not because he did not give me the tool for adjusting the string
i try ibanez, jackson, new at that time fender precision that was made god knows where(china or indonesia maybe was a mexican but it sounded like sh.t.i bought this one and never gonna sell it people that have seen it thinks it's brand new it's in a case cleaned every week and i have offers all of the time

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years and bass for about 6 months (due to necessity). I'm in two gigging bands in and around South Yorkshire playing regularly. We play a wide variety of music from Dylan to Uriah Heep, although bluesy rock would cover most of what we do.

This guitar just sounded so sweet through the Ashdown MAG C210T-300 Combo I was trying out. I tried some other basses with the same amp (including some that were 2 or 3 times the price, fenders among 'em) but this pair had the best sound - it can really growl at you when you want it or it can be as sweet as a nut. It feels comfortable too - nice and easy to play. It feels like a darling in your hands. Good looking too, I got the natural finish. The fretboard is a nice, dark tightly grained rosewood too.

The only problem I've had was with the jack socket. It felt a little loose so I tightened up the nuts, but then it wouldn't play when the jack was pushed fully in (I had to try to balance the jack halfway in!). Anyway, took it back to the shop who ordered a replacement guitar for me, but I liked this one so much (especially the fingerboard) that when it came I asked them to switch the jack sockets (which are sealed units by the way). The gladly did that for me and it's been sound ever since.

Apart from the jack socket, great. The guitar is a basic bass, but everything is solid and works fine. I particularly like the pickup selector knob which allows for a real mix of pickups with the roll of just one knob. Combine that with the tone pot and there are so many different sounds from this guitar.

As I've said, I'm a beginner on bass but I've played guitar for many years and know a quality instrument when I see one. The ABX 270 is just that. It's well made, looks good, sounds well, and plays as good as any of the other basses I've tried. Would I buy another if it was lost/stolen - probably. I don't know if I'll need anything better as my experience grows with basses, but if I had to stick with the one I've got for the rest of my life I'd be quite happy.

I bought this baby at guitar center for 140 big american dollars. It was on sale so I couldn't resist.

First off this guitar just feels nice. It is balanced and unlike the fenders and Fender clones it doesn't feel like it came off an assebly line.

playablility. I tought myself how to play with this baby so it is very easy to play. the neck is nice and narrow accross the finger board.

nobs. what the heck are plastic nobs doing on a beutiful guitar like this? somebody got confused because a peace of art like the 270 should have diamond inlay nobs not stupid little plastic things off of a lego set. That and I honestly can figure out what the third nob does. It doesn't control volume or tone or my hairdoo or anything else. (the first nob is volume and the second is fade in between the pickups) other than the nobs this is a fine peace of work.

Built like a tank. unlike fenders and squires you don't have to sand the neck to avoid getting a whole figgen tree stuck in your hand. everything is nice and smooth. the finish is awesome (birght red) I wouldn't trade this for anything that suire can throw together.

If you can find this for anywhere under 200 get it right now!!!!!! This is a good first guitar and will last you for at least 4 years. My buddies and myself only play yamaha basses because they are so supior to anything else out there. given the choice now though if i coulda go the 170 for 50 less I woulda dun it just because there is an individual volume control for each pickup instead of a fade.

If you think you want to get a squire DON'T

If you can't afford the rbx 270 get the 170

If you can get the 270 for 140 like i did DO IT NOW

If you think this guitar sucks get back on your medication!

    peace

I was looking for a bass guitar that I could learn on, but one that was good quality, and not a typical 'beginners' bass. I started off wanting an Epiphone EB0, but the waiting time was around 3 months, so I ordered this bass on www.gak.co.uk, and paid around £180 for it, and it arrived a few days later!

I like the look of it; the colour (I got the mist purple one), the shapes quite cool, and the black headstock. It's really comfortable to play, and sounds wicked.

Theres nothing I dont like about it.

I purchased this bass in Montreal at Archambault. I played bass a few times way back when, but now I wanted to pick it up again and learn to play it well. So I wanted to start with a good entry-level bass. The store had a few basses in the 300$ range: Yamahas, Peaveys, Squiers and another one which was so crappy I didn't even bother to remember the name! I tried them all and the Yamaha was the one I was the most comfortable with.

The RBX-270 I purchased is a mist green and has a real cool look. Plus, even from a beginners point of view, I though it was really easy to play. I've been practicing a lot on it, and it is really easy to get comfortable with this bass. Plus, I like to possibility…

The RBX-270 I purchased is a mist green and has a real cool look. Plus, even from a beginners point of view, I though it was really easy to play. I've been practicing a lot on it, and it is really easy to get comfortable with this bass. Plus, I like to possibility of "mixing" between the two pickups, which gives it some good tonal range. And the bass is light on the shoulders.

I had to go back to the store the day after I bought it because of wiring problems. The guys over there fixed it on the spot. Plus the bass was not perfectly adjusted when I left the store. The strings were too close to the frets, which cause a lot of buzz. I adjusted it myself (Yamaha gives you an Allan key with the bass).

So far, everything seems O.K. The instrument looks solid and sharp. The wiring worries me, though, probably because of the incident I had when I bought it. I guess I shouln't worry anymore.

Although more advanced players will probably frown upon such a "modest" bass, I feel it's a very good instrument for the money, and a bass that I won't have to wrestle with in my learning process. If you want to start playing the bass, don't ruin yourself on a high-end instrument. Go for a Yamaha and you will have a lot of fun.

I purchased the instrument from the Authorized Agent for Yamaha Musical Instruments. I purchased it for US$260 which may appear high, but taking into account the Local levies, air freight and margins which are applicable in the Middle east region it seems reasonable. What got thrown in was a carry case (Soft) and a Bass Tuner (Yamaha)

What immediately impressed me about the Bass was the workmanship and finish which is excellent at this price point. The tuning pegs allow for very precise tuning and also required no innotation adjustments. The tuning pegs allow for very precise tuning and also required no innotation adjustments. The combination of a split and single pickup give you great flexibility in the type of tone you wish to generate. The slim neck is the biggest attraction to me as I do not exactly have very long fingers and find it extermely easy to run the fretboard.

The lack of colors!!! The only color available was Purple.

The construction of the instrument is extremely good. No effort has been spared in giving it a look and feel of an instrument priced considerably higher. The enclosed tuning pegs give firm response. The electrics and wiring have a good job done (Very precise soldering and no dry spots). No Buzz or irritating glitches usaully associated with lower priced instuments, At this price point the quality is certainly above par.

A fine instrument at this price point. I would recommend it for any serious Bass player whether Amatuer or Pro. Yamaha has certainly got a winner on its hands with this Axe.

I bought it at Guitar Center for $162.00 plus tax. It normally sells for $249.99, they had it on sale at $199.99, and I talked the salesman down to $162.00 ($175.00 out the door).

It has a great sound for the money. The body style is very untraditional, not Fender-like in any way. It is modern-looking, but not to the extreme. It still looks classy. The metallic finish (mine is mist green) is very nice, somewhat understated. Nice neck, and the pickup covers make it look sophisticated. The side output jack is very practical, and the controls make it very easy to change your sound.

Yamaha makes no junk. Even their entry-level instruments are good for beginners and intermediates. I don't play in a band, I just record instrumental music at home on a four track, and I absolutely do not need something better. If music is how you make a living, spend $800.00 (or more). If you are a closet player like me, or if you're a weekend warrior, don't throw away your money. Buy this bass. It's righteous!

I bought this bass from Guitar World in Western Australia for $500 AUD.

What I like about this bass is that it's a great starter bass at it's price for any style of playing. The tone of the bass does sound a lot better then the lower quality beginner basses. I would recommend this bass for people interested in giving bass a shot. It's also a great back-up bass!

This bass is great for starting, but once you want to start jamming with a proper band, it doesn't fit in that well. You can't really adjust the sound quality of this bass that well, but if you have a good amp, I guess it could boost your tone a little.

The quality of the bass isn't the best. I've only knocked it a few times and I already have some mini-dents here and there. I've also dropped the bass once from knee high by accident and it's chipped at the back even though it landed flat.

It's a great beginner and back-up bass! I would recommend this for any beginner, but if you want to progress with your bass I suggest looking for a higher quality axe.

The only two problems with this bass, and all of its typr that I've seen, is that the finish on the paint is somewhat sloppy and the knobs are very loose, too loose.

The bass has a bolt on neck that can be adjusted from the bottom. It's body is a vairation of the "P" style. Also, It has three knobs, volume, tone, and fade. The fretboard is rosewood and the neck is thick and sturdy. Finally, it has excellent pickups. They are the best I've seen on any bass under $500. If the tag on this bass said $400, you'd believe it.

This bass is great. It is good for both a starter and an established musician. The bass was so great that even though the only color that was left in the store was purple, I got it anyway. Keep rockin' with the Yamaha RBX270 bass!

Almost everything. It is built solid, has a great treble-rich sound, a fast action, and a cool finish. All this for only $170? It sounded a little too good to be true to me--until I played it. This one plays like basses 10x the price. If you are in need of a good, gigable bass for under 200, this is your one.

The shape of the body looks kinda like the Rogue LX200 (which is the same price but looks worse and has a reputation for falling apart), and I think that Yamaha could give it a better name than the RBX270.

It is a great buy for the money. So what if there's a stigma attached to the stage performer with an inexpensive Yamaha in his/her hands! It compares to the Music Man Stingray in sound. I only use my $1700 stingray in the studio. On stage, this baby really gives a blow to the gut.

I had this prdered in from a store out of the way to a closer one for about $200 which I also got with a bass amp and stand for a good deal. I wanted a fender jazz and the guy who i am now trying to get lessons from just said he was going to get me one of these since i was a beginner and i am very, very satisfied.

I like that it is very lightweight and the tuning machines keep it pretty well in tune most of the time so I barely have to tune it. It sounds great with both its jazz and precision pickups.

The only things i dont like is that the pickup changers are a bit loose but they still work just fine.I also dont like how the pickups sometimes get in my way when i am playing fast bits.

The quality is great. After a few small accidental run ins with the wall to the headstock it looks and plays fantastically.

This is a great bass for beginners and if you can find one for under $200 you had better get it unless you can get something better.

Bought from www.themusicwarehouse.ltd.uk for £170 ($280). I bought the Left Handed version.

This is a really nice bass. It feels far more expensive than it really is. I've played a Peavey Milestone and a Squier P-bass and they both feel cheap and plywoody compared to this.

It has a wonderful richness and versatility of tone because of it's 2 pickups (1 single coil at the bridge, 1 split pickup further up). The electronics are nice, and it sounds good , but it's playability is where it really shines. If you want a really easy to play bass, this it it. It's incredibly forgiving. You can play what you like, how you like on this and It'll sound great.

The only downsides to this bass are the fact that it can be a little fretbuzzy with lighter ringwound strings, and the high action, while perfect for the beginner, makes tapping difficult.

Without equal at this price. It feels like a $700 fender. Everything from the finish to the hardware is wonderful on this instrument. Yamaha have some great service, so if something does ever go wrong, you've got the world's biggest instrument manufacturer to call on.

At this price, nothing comes close. Quite possibly the best beginner's bass.
