DigiTech RP90

This pedal has Pickup Modeling/Wah, Compression, Amp Modeling/Distortion, EQ, A Noise Gate, Chorus, Flange, Phaser, A Harmonizer, A Digitech Whammy, Delay, Reverb, and more. It uses digital technology to model amps and pedals.
It has an input, an output, an 1/8" headphones out, and a Stereo out. It also ha a button to choose between amp and headphones/mixing console output, which adds a cabinet simulator for Direct Input into a mixing console or headphones.

UTILIZATION

It is very easy to edit the effects patches. The manual has clear and detailed directions on assigning the effects/sounds to each patch number, and clear and precise directions for assigning one to the expression pedal. Any effect may be assigned to the expression pedal, be it the Whammy or Distortion, or Delay.

SOUND QUALITY

The amp modeling is decent at best. The effects are a little digital sounding but still decent. This is more for a beginner trying to find what they like rather than a professional trying to save room on their board. This is a Jack of All trades, master of none. It can do it all, but not very well. The distortions and amp models are sterile, digital, and lifeless. They work for bedroom practice, but not for anything else. This is where this pedal lets you down, and it's the most important part. The models are usable, but not convincing, but, it's not meant to be perfect replicas of the tone. They're supposed to be generally the same for practicing or for a beginner, something this achieves.

OVERALL OPINION

It's very easy to use, and easy to find a decent tone. There's few truly good or great tones in it though, They all sound digital, sterile, and lifeless. For a beginner, it's perfect though. Low priced, and loads of stuff to play with until they find out what they like. For the price, it's decent enough. It's nothing spectacular, but it's not the worst sounding piece of gear.

SOUND QUALITY

I was amazed by the overall sound quality and noise gate effectively. I compared the effects with some good analog for me to realize the quality. Sometimes we do not feel to have its digital side synthetic. Some distortions are successful as well Digitech metal style, Big Muff.On no screaming sounds usual in the number of concurrents.Et whammy: good! Only wha are not very convaincantes.Quant the amp simulations are mostly of such quality that they can serve on a sound system in concert again or in a small room! Pedal expression / volume is very functional. The switch / amplifier sound headset is very helpful and avoids duplication of settings, plus you do not have to put a amp simulation. You also have a standby position. The 2 output jacks allow for true stereo. It fits right on RP PA, headphones and can put together lampes.On fx, delay, reverb. Modern sounds and effects vintages.Les plants are quite good and very helpful for those who feel lost in this jungle of effects! The sound of guitars is met, the RAB, several instrument is nice.

OVERALL OPINION

I have since November 2009 and am using it to complement (reverb, whammy, volume, amp simulation. Fender) of my pedal-board analog or repeats itself for traveling light! I experienced the first digital, that changes and progress since ... Anyway the sound quality is well above Korg, Zoom, Roland, Alesis and even Line 6 and Vox. The value is interesting because made in China. The plastic casing may doubt his strength but still much Digitech over 10 years and still operate the foot-switches sensitive to dust and yet plastic last longer than metal and Vox Zoom in for with these Last 2 contacts in the foot-switches are fragile. The adapter comes with 9 v is reliable. It is by visiting the websites Anglo-Saxon that I decided to buy the PR 90. Critics were excellent including the share of old pros.
