Hi

I have my Focusrite 2i4 connected to my laptop via USB. Audio comes out of the PCs USB to the 2i4. From there I send the Left and Right audio via the two TRS jacks on the back to a mixer. Happy days., Works a treat.

Next, I plug a line level instrument into one of the inputs on the front of the 2i4. I can set it's input gain to make sure it is not clipping via the green/red lights around the gain knob. However it makes no sound. I can see the sound is coming in but nothing comes out of the TSR outputs on the back.

Am I missing something here? I thought this was a basic function of the 2i4. Isn't this what the '2' in '2i4' stands for?

Hi Dobly,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing issues.

If you want to hear the signal then you either need to monitor directly using the 2i4 (turn Direct Monitor switch to ON) or monitor in your DAW. The signal won't automatically be sent from the inputs to the outputs unless you do one of the 2 things I mentioned.

Best regards,
