Topic Need help making Focusrite worth with a DAW
Can someone lend a hand and help me get my DAW to work with a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2nd Gen.?

I installed the latest driver from Focusrite (v.4.119.13_33). My DAW is Ableton Live v11. In Windows' "Sound" settings, I have Focusrite as the default recording device and Realtek Speakers as the default playback device.

Now I am able to record my electric guitar with the ASIO driver selected as the Input device. But to play back what I record, I must choose MME/DirectX. Surely there is a way to record and play, without having to configure the audio setup each time.

Below is what I get with different configurations:

Driver Type: ASIO
Audio Device: Focusrite USB ASIO
RESULT: No "Audio Output" setting appears; so while I can record my guitar, without interference from the internal PC mic, playback is unavailable.

Driver type: MME/DirectX
Audio Input: No Input (feedback if Focusite is selected)
Audio Output: Realtek...Wave (or DX)
RESULT: Playback of a recording is possible; but to record again, I must reconfigure setup in Preferences again. Sigh!

Driver type: MME/DirectX
Audio Input: Focusrite...Wave
Audio Output: Realtek...Wave
RESULT: Record & playback possible, without need for reconfiguration; but the audio quality is unacceptable, even with Input and output buffer sizes set to maximum of 12128 samples.

Driver Type: ASIO
Audio Device: ASIO4ALL v2
RESULT: Records through the internal laptop mic, which cannot be turned down or disabled, even with Focusrite selected as the default recording device.
