It's an overdrive pedal robust, basic and very classy, not a Line 6 modulation effect cold and soulless that plugs into the PC and interfaces noon for more technical information I invite you to visit Official Marshall (I think it www.marshallamps.com).

UTILIZATION

The general configuration is simple to understand: Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Volume, or the same settings as the Marshall amps and even those of other brands, plus the knob "Deep" a very original, I have still not well even if used to dig all the frequencies, or just the bass but I like to put it back ...

Get a good sound is very easy (only if you like Marshall, of course), but get the sound you want is more boring: the sound is what happens but the range of sounds offered by the different Guv'nor Plus makes it necessary to tamper with a long time to find the sound we were looking for, however it is very rare to not eventually get there, since this defect is due to the incredible versatility of this pedal, you can not really talk about failure, but a side effect of an important quality.

As for the manual, the only thing I find useful in, is the examples of settings, but I have not tried because my amp has too much personality and pre-designed settings would not have the desired effect.

SOUND QUALITY

Since this is a true overdrive and not a modulation effect, there is no problem on the side of realism ... This is an overdrive that varies from mild crunch to boost or distortion remains wild and quality every time.

I use a Fender Super Reverb 1967 (combo 45W 4x10 "tube) with a BCRich NJ Bich in 1986 with microphones Gibson '57 Classic, a Telecaster, a BCRich Masterpiece Mockingbird and ESP MIII cutomer limited to 1987 equipped a micro EMG 81.

The list of sounds that would get a bit long but I include the following:
With Bich, I managed to reproduce exactly the sound of AC / DC on the album "Let There Be Rock", with Mockingbird, I was amused to reproduce the sound of Black Flag Nervous Breakdown in with the Telecaster I managed to get the sound of Joe Strummer in the early Clash ...

Whatever happens, the sound is warm and the grain vintage. And you can even have a crap if it's what we want (I make punk).

One small problem: I tried it on a Marshall MG100DFX (100W 1x12 Combo "transistor) and though I set the treble to the bottom, he was still missing, so I do not recommend the Guv'nor Plus for those seeking make a little more distortion of the vintage Marshall transistor. But I think it is a fault of the amp and not because of the pedal on my Fender, I put the treble half of the pedal and the amp, and it is almost too much so I put 10 anyway.

OVERALL OPINION

For me it's a great pedal that perfectly meets my expectations for a reasonable price (54 € on www.thomann.de / en).

Before buying it, I tried several models from Boss and I found it clean, mastered, full of good technical quality but totally devoid of warmth and soul, which is not the case GV2 who has the soul of an old Marshall.

I do not see the point to re-elect now that I say that but if I lose I will redeem the same.
I use it for two months, and I can already do without.
