pedal distortion / overdrive as there is so much.
setting gain, bass, mid and acute volume. interesting to "sculpt" a sound. settings are not completely independent and interact.
must not tinker evil before finding a sound that suits.
I was looking for a pedal to get a little dirty my Hiwatt Custom 50 and get a little closer Marshall sound without losing the grain of this amp, and in this context it "did the job".
the only complaint is a slight lack of dynamics, we can hardly catch up with the volume because it makes less accurate and mushy sound.

Used initially to "roar" my Peavey Rage 158, and have a second channel to be used up, I quickly tired (I must say that the amp was not at the top) before re-trying with my Ibanez TSA15 ...

UTILIZATION

The config is simple and complex at the same time ... let me explain!
One branch, we play, easy! But we have a pretty palette with the settings, among others thanks to the three-band EQ, and here it is clear that we need a can tamper to identify the real potential of the pedal, but what a joy!

SOUND QUALITY

As I said earlier, the sound palette is very wide and it happens to reproduce multitude of sounds, with a real personality Marshall, simply boost the big fat distortion through the crunch, nothing seems to scare!
Level of the knob gives a serious boost to the signal! on the other hand we pay a bonus breath pretty ....
That said, the pedal is very usable, must still know how to balance the settings to find a sound that is not too cartoonish ...
on the other hand, we get to have a demonic sustain with a good response, it would almost feel like a lamp in the bowels of the beast!

OVERALL OPINION

Service intermittently for now ... 14 years!
I bought it at random and I have no regrets ... in fact so. The leaving in the lurch for so long!
For lovers of big sound, vintage, a must!

Marshall is pretty well-known for their hard rock amplifiers but they're not as well-known for their pedals. They do make some decent sounding pedals to give you basically the sound of a Marshall amplifiers but not really the feel of a an all tube amplifier. The Marshall governor pedal is a cool little pedal to get you that hard rock plexi or JCM 800 type tones. Basically this is a pedal that will emulate the sound that you would get out of the Marshall amplifier that you have ever seen or heard.

SOUND QUALITY


This pedal pretty much has everything you would see on a normal amplifier that they would have other than the presents control knob. You have the gain, bass, middle, trebel, and level control knobs. This is basically everything you would see on a normal amplifier. Therefore you are getting the amplifier voicing in a small little pedal. This is basically the first introduction that Marshall had and since then they have re-issued the governor pedal or at least updated the pedal with a new look in a smaller case. So if you're looking for a nice Marshall type sound out of the pedal than this is the pedal you would probably grab.

OVERALL OPINION


They have since discontinued this pedal for quite some time now but they have a newer version of this exact same pedal with a few more newer modern features. It's a pretty inexpensive pedal so if you looking to get this paedal I would suggest bypassing it and going straight to the newer version with more options.

OVERALL OPINION

The Marshall Guv'nor is one overdrive pedals from the late 1980s. It is robust and trs a good design, simple and effective. Its legalization prcise can use it as an overdrive channel on any amp does not have, but preferences via the effects loop of the amp.

This is * extremely * PDAL robust, can be used not only in the studio, but on auusi scne, peace of mind.

UTILIZATION

Mastering is quite simple: for my part, great beginners when it was acquired, 5 minutes me enough to make me my first sound. The simple, intuitive controls allow live interaction, to address directly in live sound.

The manual of the era as the product is simple.

Personally, I have the simplicity of apprci o the note.

SOUND QUALITY

Since a distortion of the rich until crunch lightweight, there are quite a palette of sounds that are the identity Marshall. For my part, I applied the old recipes, with LP-79 (Vintage DiMarzio Air Neck & Bridge), to a satisfactory rsultat trs!

OVERALL OPINION

Acquired in 1996, and uses intensive Manir up in 1999, then Manir more episodes. An initial purchase of distortion pedals, completely by accident, but was happy to be in April. She provided the Marshall rock sound I wanted. In the last I apprci its robustness and stability that makes it all rsistante "draping" in concert. I would classify almost in the "tank" of the pedals. Obviously consquence logic, it is heavier than a conventional pedals.

My comparison was made well APRS my purchase, but ... Compared direct competition from "small" distortion colorful variety, I find that the Guv'nor is doing well on the trs rock, from the mildest to the most seriousness, both reached the limit with Mtal sounds, sometimes difficult. First PDAL uses unique, it allowed me to control my sound and I dtach the work environment (various amps, sound ...). Later, she found her place in a string of classic pedals (Comp, Wah, Chorus, Reverb ...)

OVERALL OPINION

I use a gear not gnial: an old Peavey amp and a Gibson of the 70 who avcu. (When I play the guitar, I am bass player).
And of a ring.
I come get a nice even with my low saturation (Combo Peavey Zephyr + 75W) the "Lemmy"

Well, it's expensive and I think it is, if you find one, jump desssus! Overall, the quality DGRAD Marshall amps, not the 3 that I scratch frquente who say otherwise. (Grsillements of knobs, pedals weakness provided ...) The sound you have on any typ Marshall amp correct. Well, was not a substitute for three bodies, but Arelle need a body among the three amateurs??

SOUND QUALITY

On this point I have not hooked. I bought it because the era, (1992), Serge Tessot-Gay Black Desir had in his pedal board, and said the greater good ... a little stupid, sure, but it's true that when it knows nothing of distos pedals (I still do not know the diffrence between distortion, overdrive ,..), we try at least rfrer is a sound that we like. For cons, I know when its me flat. This is not the case with this pedals which produces a grain terrible especially when you boost the treble. I tried to do dsesprment disparatre by transferring the treble and pushing the mediums, but nothing I could not find a sound that satisfies me. Yet I tried to tamper with the buttons but nothing, was wrong. I put 3 and not 0, because the sound quality is really CRITERIA trs subjective.

OVERALL OPINION

I do not have the sound of that apprci pedals, but hey, I guess some apprcieront the grain that will fit their musical style with no problem. Can be a little too hardcore for me. I put 5 because in terms of construction and rglages there is all that is necessary, but the noise level that I am a bit more mixed.

very simple config

something not very common on this pedal: an effects loop which is active when the pedal is active.
not bad to put a delay that does not use it with another sound. Me I do not m'ensert yet.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound is very good to find a speck on my Marshall BJ.
I hi: TELE + Clone + TS9 + Blues Junior Guvnor. this config works very well, being there as the TS9 boost to BJ cruncher or passing the guvnor an overdrive to a greater distortion.
In blues rock is a massacre!

OVERALL OPINION

since 2009, bringing qques mods, I used all the time. I had touvée opportunities in a small music store for 45 € and I must say that is the value for money is excellent.

SOUND QUALITY

I got a good slap! I have the Guv'nor 2 from a few years already. I found this little gem of an opportunity (a bit pricey, 80 euros fdp included, but I am now ready to pay 150 to have it!).
I tried many distos, and I have 2 or 3.
Then, nothing to do with the Guv'nor 2! These are two completely different pedals. The GV2 is bland next to the 1990 model!
GORGEOUS!
Now I understand the late Gary Moore who used it for many years!
I plug it into a Blues Jr. in his clear and the sound is very very close to his album Still Got The Blues (I did not Bluesbreaker either). I'll try it on my Marshall Class5!
This is my favorite pedal! If you have the opportunity to try it, be careful, you'll crack! on the other hand, large hard fans, I do not think it will! It's still blues rock, heavy 80/90.

OVERALL OPINION

It's a pedal that starts to become scarce. If you like the sound of Gary Moore, you need it! But it offers a good range of very distinctive sound Marshall, warm, beautiful. It's not just the sound Gary Moore!

This is a distortion/overdrive pedal made by Marshall. It's not rackable, nor can it be edited through a computer program. It's pure analog distortion that connects via the 1/4' instrument cable.

UTILIZATION

The pedal, like most distortion pedals, is pretty simple to use. It has Volume, Gain, and three way EQ knobs on it, and the main switch activates/bypasses the effect. Messing around with the tones to adjust to your rig is quite easy, its nothing a seasoned player hasn't seen before, and it's also nothing a newcomer couldn't figure out pretty easily. I have never opened a manual for this pedal, as I had no need, really.

SOUND QUALITY

I used this pedal with a Fender Twin Amp and a Fender Strat with single-coil pickups. I have a remarkably bright-sounding guitar, so I don't know if it's the pedal or the guitar, but for some reason this pedal didn't do it for me. After playing through a real Marshall amp, which this pedal is supposed to recreate, I was hoping to get a good approximation of the Marshall sound, as well as the benefits of playing through the twin. What I got, however, was a sort of thin-sounding replication, not entirely accurate. I feel as though I couldn't get the same gut-level response from the pedal is I could with a real Marshall stack or even a smaller combo. In fact, I feel as though I got a far more powerful response from turning up the preamp volume on the Twin and bypassing the pedal entirely. At least it felt more physical and heavy than the pedal. There's a possibility that a different guitar, even a different Strat, would have better results, but I'm not convinced. Even an Ibanez Tube screamer has far greater effect for me than this pedal did.

OVERALL OPINION

I like the simplicity of the use, as well as the look of the pedal, but at the end of the day, sound is all that matters. This pedal just didn't deliver for me. Needless to say I didn't hang onto it for very long. Some people might be looking for a little less drive than I was, and could maybe enjoy it, however it wasn't for me. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody did enjoy it, but would never recommend it personally.
