AKG K77

The AKG K77 is a set of over the ear stereo headphones. They're all black and grey, the usual AKG color scheme. I've been playing bass and keyboards for a very long time, as well as working professionally as a vocal and acting coach. I use these headphones for listening to music as well as recording. I am currently in a group called Shutterdown, an electronic effort, although the majority of my work previously has revolved around jazz, funk, blues, and classical music.

I got them for $20 (a STEAL) when the theater company I worked for decided to sell off most of their sound equipment when the system got redesigned. They are by no means old or worn, either. Practically brand new. I got them because my Sennheiser eH150's finally gave out.

I like the sound through the headphones. It is, at least, a clean sound. For $20, that's okay.

I don't really care for the way they fit over my head, the spring-loaded earpiece adjustment design leaves some tension on my head and can leave me with a headache after a few hours of use, something that didn't happen previously with my Sennheisers. The speakers are a little small for my taste, and I really doubt that they didn't have room to put something at least a little bigger and warmer in. Also, the over-the-ear padding doesn't really go over my ear. It just kind of rests around it, another result of the spring-loaded adjustment system. The Sennheisers just clicked into place. No tension. They just rested where they were supposed to be.

The right earpad is starting to peel away from the speaker, and I'm taking better care of these than I did with my Sennheisers. I'd say the construction is fair.

So, the Sennheiser eH line is much cheaper than the $50 these AKG's go for brand new, and I VERY MUCH prefer the Sennheiser line. Not only in terms of tone, but also in terms of comfort. These are hardly worth the $20 I paid, let alone $50. Sure, they get the job done, but not very comfortably...and not very well overall. They get a 2, but only because they're functional.

I use it for two years. I do not know exactly how much I paid (44 euros I think, either in all cases), but I remember that for the price, it had surprised me. I could test models from Sony or Marshall, supposedly made for the studio, but the starting price was too high. AKG made the entry level really good, solid, quality product, a choice!

It advised me, a lover of Dub, for its neutrality in sound when working on software or on a console.

I write first, and I listen too. I like the fact that it is semi-open, which allows me to spend hours with out having an earache afterwards it feels to listen to music from one speaker, on that they are very AKG.

Even with its low, the subtleties of sound is perceived, it's not like headphones nags who pretend to be done for the studio but that swing low, and are completely closed.

For an entry-level good brand is really great in addition there is a big sticker that comes with louse the fart on your PC ...

I dropped a lot of times, even though I had promised myself to pay attention, and it holds.
In fact it's almost strange, it looks like it repairs itself. Once I threw sound super strong, and the right earphone has started to sizzle. It was fixed within the hour, it's been two years that I have and I re-ferrais this choice with his eyes closed. It does not take a ride!

Of course it is not nice, I do not date in town, unless I use it as a scarf, but at least it's solid. It is not adjustable either, but I guess it fits all sizes

The cable is three meters long, I can limit wandering around my room while keeping the ears without worrying about connectivity (to tweak on my synths or effects which is handy). It comes with a converter to catch Jack 3.5.

Everything is there, the stereo is niquel, so it is a semi-closed suddenly you are not completely isolated, but no migraine coming out of the session, and that's great.
A total respect of his ear, sound quality really good.

I use (for lack of resources) for three years. Knowing his faults, I always replay with an old AKG open (K240 type older) which is not practical (I spend endlessly from one to the other)

I had a beyerdynamique DT-231 Pro, for the same price, the sound was exploitable (and especially no intonation problems in the bass) and allowed to position microphone correctly and make a pre-mix without aberrations by against foams are self destroyed after 3-4 years, and it was less finished than the AKG K-77.

For the price, I really recommend (the beyerdynamique is much better!)

With experience, I do not would resume!

I use it for his vocals and instruments made.
It is relatively comfortable, lightweight, no problem size (small head).
There are better comfort but for the price, this is great!

The sound is difficult to use.
What you hear in the headphones is very far from reality, the bass is too pronounced but poorly defined causing intonation problems in vocals in the bass.
For taking his instrument and the pre-mix, which you seem fine with this headset is simply always disappointing with another listening, lack of definition is flattering but very misleading.
