Epiphone Sorrento

Epiphone 50th Anniversary "1962" SorrentoPublished on 12/12/02 at 15:00
I spent £440 in 1996 for a Brand new Cherry Sorrento.

I loved the unusual single cutaway and the rocknroll colour.

The guitar has gorgeous P90 pickups which give the warmest jangley clean sound.

It wasnt till I started gigging it with a revved up amp that I realised this guitars secret weapon.

The sorrento has the most amazing feedback. With any reasonable amount of overdrive it hums and squeels and rings out. Over the years Ive found myself playing it with only my left hand. The strings start vibrating all on their own, like a 6 string invisible e -bow. This is a lot of fun and gives great tone colours. I find it works especially well when playing with another guitarist...…

I find it works especially well when playing with another guitarist in the band particularly when they use something bright and sparkly like a tele.

The build quality is suspect around the tuners.

Gorgeous finish, but dodgy tuners.

These are great guitars with many unique qualities, but you might make best use of them along with another electric player.

see on the internet :)
I put 8 or "very good" compared to more expensive guitars in its price range I put 10 "Perfect"

UTILIZATION

although I often play other guitars, I'm accustomed to for years gibson electric, I do not know if my opinion counts for the handle BUT I was surprised to fall under her spell and in a few seconds as if I had always been ... The handle to a beautiful color and glides perfectly. Ergonomics, acute attacks, balance, bands, everything is nickel ... great job. In addition she is very beautiful

SOUNDS

There it was a very pleasant surprise ... Even a slap !! This is the first time I buy a guitar without trying it because I found more (1962 ex in the world)...…

SOUNDS

There it was a very pleasant surprise ... Even a slap !! This is the first time I buy a guitar without trying it because I found more (1962 ex in the world) so that there remained purchased ... Meanwhile I read that one of the microphones not make too much and am worried for nothing ... !!! These mini gibson pickups are a treat, go perfectly with this beauty, the knobs have a really progressive race and suddenly it is very versatile, even in hard-rock sound with her tears well in her jazzy, probably due to the fact of "Gibson pickups / guitar without central beam."

OVERALL OPINION

I do'm not really used for two records and a few hours for fun but what a treat. I mostly have tried with my pod x3 pro, sounds that "made" not much with my Gibson Les Paul Standard, which then take on a whole different scale.
In the end, bought for two specific songs, BIG BIG heart stroke, so my finances after I keep it 200% (I'm often running gear left to buy later because several albums in various style being finalized)
The combination of microphones to this fund and its handle dream (for me :) and its specific settings are really one of the best that I could play ... AND PRICE !!! because it is downright much more expensive guitars. Epiphone quite strong there !! Found on ebay again ...
