(Opinion of 5/24/08)
Made in Korea
2 humbuckers gretsch
etc. ....
UTILIZATION
The handle is a real treat, this has already been said but it is good to Rapel,
Access to acute is obviously not a reference, like most jazz guitars, the thickness of the body does not allow it really, but we can still attack frenzied solos until the 15th, beyond, the frets rather to decorate ...
this guitar is very well balanced, not heavy at all (unless a les paul for example ..)
adjusting the knobs could not be simpler and the volume is general practice to not stir up the neighborhood ...
SOUNDS
This guitar is in my opinion much more versatile than the Japanese model.
the first connection, I found a huge imbalance in the output level of the microphone, the bass fishing was too sharp and were not at all, which seemed to confirm some rather mixed opinions, gleaned here and there quality of these micros.mais looking more closely at the micro acute was far ropes, so I tried a re-adjustment of the height of the microphones by lowering the bass and treble up to maximun and there, radical change!
I plugged into a Roland Cube 30 and honestly, fiddling with the models and the gain of the amplifier, it revisits all the sonic possibilities that can be expected of a guitar. that being said I think this guitar has more of a vocation or just plain jazz rock blues hard rock show, for the funky rhythms is not ideal because the humbuckers do not really sound snapping single coil pickups of good Start, normal ....
saturated in the microphone to give sharp well with grain and smooth as it should.
by setting the amp on the simulation tweed bassman, guitar pickups intermediate position with a bit of delay on the amp, is easily obtained rockabilly sound, even if it was not the big of twang Dynasonic ...
It is not necessary in my opinion to replace the pickups in this guitar ...
(Edit of 5/10/08): Good with a little more perspective I had to clarify some details ..
having had the opportunity to acquire a pair of vintage 59 (GFS) to cheap, I started in the replacement of the original pickups for a reference on their quality but also that of gfs (whose reputation n is more to do) and I must admit, although he thought that sounded very gretsch correctly it is true that after I install the V59 in the hands of another guitar! the dynamics and clarity of sound reproduction is really superior to gretsch, slamming his most found much better this famous "twang" that made the reputation of gretsch .. So small correction, and reduction of the note, if gretsch pickups are correct there is still a clear difference with a top quality .... QED, but the violin is very good after 6 months of use .. RAS.
OVERALL OPINION
I play every day non stop for 2 months and I must say I do not get tired of looking, the finish is superb, the grain of the wood, varnish and color model are identical to the Brian Setzer, j ' I saw the two side by side in store, and except for 2 TV Jones and the bending of the hearing is not much difference ..
value for money is OK but not very Breathtaking view of the finish quality guitars made in Asia today.
the violin makes a truly excellent action pleasant and precise, this guitar is a real pleasure to play!
