I'm am currently in the process of building a home studio. I'm pretty much still in the research mode.
i'm wanting to use a 16 channel mixing board, stereo X-overs, and either bi or tri amp. probably bi-amp. i'm looking for a setup that will give a pretty close playback as to what i'm hearing in the headphones. here is a diagram of what i'm wanting to do. (this example is for tri-amping. i am now leaning more towards bi-amping):
this is what i've put together so far.
* Mackie 16ch Mixing Board
* Carvin DCM1500 x 2
* Carvin 1584 x 2
* Carvin XC3000 Stereo X-Over
* Furman Power Factor Pro R Rack Power Conditioner
according to my research at the Carvin website. this seems like a pretty balanced configuration. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I've heard that this is WAY too much for my home studio. Any suggestions? I'm looking to be able to lay down the background tracks, then use them to hone the lead guitar tracks.
