What are sound card options for monitoring 5.1 with Audition

I'm helping a friend install 5.1 in his home studio. It's a Windows XP PC running AA 1.5. We are wondering if SB Audigy cards will cut the mustard or do we need to step it up a notch.

The Monitors will be powered.
