Alnico EMG 60

EMG 60APublished on 04/11/11 at 18:48
The EMG 60A is a revision of the original EMG 60 that they have offered for quite some time. While it looks the same, the biggest difference is the magnet inside of it. Instead of using a ceramic magnet, they swapped it out for an Alnico one. This helps change the tone to a more vintage, sweeter sounding pickup.

Like all EMGs, this pickup is housed inside an epoxied cover with no pole pieces showing. The pickup has a built-in preamp inside it which runs off of a 9 volt battery. This allows the pickup to remain quiet under even the brightest stage lights, allows the ability to run long lengths of cable without needing a buffer and helps prevent any grounding dangers normal pickups...…

The EMG 60A is physically the same winding as the original 60, but with the new Alnico magnet installed, it sounds much sweeter. It’s a bit fatter sounding than the 60, and it seems to be a bit more round as well. Output is roughly the same, and the overall tone is mostly the same. It still has that extremely clean sounding, almost single coil-ish tone going on, but the magnet seems to boost the lows a touch and help kill some of that “fakeness” that I experienced with the original 60.

The EMG 60A should work in most woods, but I prefer it in darker woods like mahogany. To me, it really shines in those woods. Some people have used it in the bridge, but it’s mostly a neck pickup. The cleans are great, but the distorted tones are still not my favorite. I still prefer the EMG 85 or 89 overall as a neck pickup for both cleans and leads.

If you were a fan of the EMG 60 but want a bit more warmth to it, check out the 60A. It still features the same characteristics of the 60, but it seems to be warmed up a touch and not as “clangy” sounding.

First, I would strongly refer you to read the opinion of the EMG 60 (% https://fr.audiofanzine.com/produits/avis/index 2Cidproduit 2C23771.html%). Indeed, the 60A is only dclinaison EMG EMG 60's and it is technically Difference of the latter in that it contains an Alnico magnet instead of a magnet cramique .

Overall, the two pickups are really close trs. The 60A has kept his great ERRF precision, versatility, sound quality all year but I think one more quality: heat.

The 60A is rounder and more "hot" as 60. Sr Although this is not spectacular, is a subtle but yet the diffrence is l. I find it that this microphone is the best compromise between 60 and 85, knowing that I originally...…

The 60A is rounder and more "hot" as 60. Sr Although this is not spectacular, is a subtle but yet the diffrence is l. I find it that this microphone is the best compromise between 60 and 85, knowing that I originally preferences for a 60 without denying the qualities of 85.

In all Ralite dpend individual needs but for trying the two microphones, I have a small fondness for 60A. The solution can also be found in the stringed guitar. With a guitar gnrera much lower (often synonymous with loss of precision) and will sound "hot", as with mahogany, 60 can s'avrer a good choice. For more slamming his guitar to show the 60A can be better its quality. It shall decide according to that we want complter or affirm the strengths of his guitar as it has since told many times does the EMG respect the original sound of the guitar.

The 60A is a rvolution compared to 60 but this little diffrence magnet gives a little extra that makes me prfrer. However, we still can not get sound with a single with him and he is not yet the CAF and the kitchen!

Hi All,

I mount the microphone instead of an EMG 81 on the handle ready Vigier Ultra bridge position knowing that it was a 85.
The 60A while the 4ime we enter the dimension.
I use it for a month.
What I like most is his attack and dynamics.
What I like least: for the moment I have not yet found.
Report qualitPrix: not found in France, it must be ordered to pay the taxes and US Franaise.
Exprience with this choice I would do without hsiter.

Description:
was a clear, round and slamming the time.
The microphone reveals all nuences game on this one is close to a Fender texas spcial.
The guitar is not the bastardized contraire.L attack is open with a dynamic extraordinaire. On can hear all the harmonics.
This is not a single sound or sound like PAF, we are in between.

In a crunch becomes outright Hallu because there are plenty sharp without aggression to the ears the sound is full, the guitar screams when CARREMENT attack the strings with a little force.

With a pot full saturation is specific sound power chords and solos ds that attacks the top of the handle (near the junction body / neck) was a sound one bit of Gilmour and going up Santana via Morse and Petrucci while playing on the neck pickup.
Revenge is lost in a few compared to 81 precision.

In short, my Vigier is exeptional and the quality of the violin are even more enhanced because the guitar is more expressive.
I would say the guitar is even more polivalente.
Also, I can always return the 81 place if necessary (although I doubt that I need proof).
