Solid construction that inspires confidence, and rightly so.
OVERALL OPINION
This mic just keeps on amazing me, as well as other musician I work with. I bought it a year ago on a whim, without really knowing what I would do with it, so it stayed in its case some time. Then I said to myself, "for the price, it's not a big loss if I make it explode." I usually use it to record brasses or as overhead. It has a very satisfying precision, nice round lows and crystalline mids and highs. On a sax, an instrument whose recording is as complex as it gets, at a distance of 1.5-2.5 feet, it captures the whole body of the instrument and picks up the physical presence of the keys, of the metal, the breathing of the musician, in short, all "defects" that you can mistakenly miss sticking an SM57 into the mouthpiece.
