« Epiphone Les Paul Standard »
Published on 07/29/01 at 15:00I bought this baby at Link's Music in Hanover PA. I wanted it for a secondary guitar, but it took preferance over my Gibson SG!!! I payed $549 + tax.
The playability was beyond ridiculous. I have never nailed any licks faster than I did on this Les Paul. At first I was worried due to the fact that it wasn't made here, but reviews I've read made me try it out. I loved it, like i said the fretboard is set for speed. So is the action, and I didn't have any overgripping problems on and open D chord like I do on my SG. I think 3rd string is set better on here.
I could complain about wait or finish, but I won't. They are both fine and don't effect my playing. One thing that is annoying is the fact that true Gibsons are a couple thousand more for a guitar that feels the same. I played both and own a Gibson SG and prefer this.
Good, for what I've done now. The finish is purple flake, which i believe isn't on any Les Pauls, Gibson or Epiphone anymore.... I like the bulky feeling on the neck. It helped speed wise. It is all put together well enough.
Buy this, not a true Gibson unless you're rich. I love it and I even have a Gibson. Change the pickups if you are picky.
