UTILIZATION

Like any self-respecting Les Paul. The profile is quite round and thick. Just head on Epiphone's not really my cup of tea but is not inherently ugly either! And then I got used ...

SOUNDS

I just equip P 90 Gibson whatsoever and without a real transformation, there is a better. The original P90 pickups are Epiphone which were already pretty good. This guitar is known among other things for it, which is rare in Epiphone. This is often the pickups and electronics are the Achilles heel of this trademark. Then wiring level is impressive. Some cables are assembled with plug connectors. I had never seen it!
With Gibson P90 was a higher level of output and an even more clear and precise. Sustain impressive musicality and huge. It meets all nuances of the game A TREAT!
I could compare it with a "real" Gibson Les Paul Gold Top in the mid 70s and frankly, level violin, the Epiphone is a comparison without worry. Gibson Humbucker was equipped, not P90 and what is more, it was the Bare Knuckle output level result. To compare the sound, it was more difficult, but despite that, the Epiphone did not blush. So you can imagine now with Gibson P90!
I mounted GHS Guitar Boomers strings 11-53 in order to regain the same voltage as the 10-52 that I use on long forks. I struggled to find elsewhere this game Thanks Herr Tho ... ;-) It's actually a game expected to agree in Eb or RE. I settled with onions. I filed down the nut over disagreements nuisance problems due to a too narrow saddle. Typical of this type of head, leaving the strings through the nut to the mechanical, especially those in the middle, and RE SOL. Also setting the tone with a very personal method for the accuracy and compensation of individual small frets on the Tune-O-Matic. I never had a guitar just as well set. This is BY-DONE! Since then I have applied this method to my other guitars and it does it well. I tell you perfect intonation.
Level look, I changed the buttons for speed-knob gold match at that great with the gold color of the table and a vintage button micro switch amber. Little but it makes the changes and close the inspiring mother.

OVERALL OPINION

This is one of my favorite guitars. And yet this is not the most expensive, quite the contrary. And yet I have some that a "real" Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion. It is great too. Bullets 11,000 paid at the time in 1982, almost € 2000, 30 years ago anyway! But excellent guitar Gold Top Epi her father is a candle without worry and without flinching! Attention The Howard Roberts is a half box ...

Warmth, musicality, sustain ... In Blues, Rock, Jazz, Fusion, etc.. Bomb this guitar. A question arises, why pay 10 times more expensive?

Guitar made in Korea.
Channel Type 56
22 frets
2 P90 pickups
Grover

Flawless finish, adjusting the neck perfect, pretty hard to imagine given the price. Only downside for inlays that are really cheap and would have deserved more attention, they are not quite pearly.

The handle is very nice with a typical access to acute LP, not the best but not impossible either.

The very good overall finish and quality of violin give this guitar a very pleasant side to play and make us forget its weight.
The tone knobs are very effective and offer a nice range of shades.
The crystalline sound into overdrive channel fast enough drool, I personally love it but the risk of displeasing fans and metal shredders of all stripes.

SOUNDS

Primarily used in a Line 6 Pod Pro - Amp Marshall EL84 20/20 - 30 Harley Benton 4x12 vintage, I have on hand an arsenal of sounds blues, rock, funk fusion quite varied.
The clean sound is beautiful but crunche fast enough, it's not a Strat.
The gain of the microphones is very substantial, good dynamics and lutherie offers great sustain.
It gets warm and round bass and treble never garish, stunning for a guitar of this price.

OVERALL OPINION

I use this guitar for 4 years and I must admit that it's my favorite.
I own a Gibson LP firebrand and well the GT does not have much to envy.
I always wanted a Goldtop LP Gisbson but not having the budget, I folded this model after reading the rave reviews that are made. So I tried a few and every time I was amazed by their finishing and their sound. So I ended up cracking and I do not regret my choice.
Everyday it's the guitar I play most, she has a trick of her own and I'm hooked. I must admit my Gibson away for little Epi and yet my Firebrand is a great love story ...
Again, this guitar for its price is a bargain for anyone looking for a good LP with great looks and sounds great.
In my opinion the best choice in the range Epiphone LP.

I aquired this guitar from guitar center in Naperville,IN, i paid 467$ (with a coupon)

I love the action, humbucking pickups, action, look, and just about everything about this guitar, but especially the sound of the alnico pickups, and the action, plus the fact that it has 4 control nobs, and the tune-o-matic bridge

It is a very good instrument for the price, it handles anything from Hard rock, to slow christain chording music, overall a WONDERFUL instrument, and the set neck is wonderful, plus the tuners are grover, so they have no problem with staying in tune

Overall this guitar has great everything after some minimal modifications, if you are ever looking for a cheap genuine paul, or just a great overall intermediete-pro guitar this is exactly what you want

The design of this guitar is actually included normal, but highlight the impression of classical and blues on our performance in my opinion. If at first glance in terms of color, for Guitar Gibson Les Paul original, wrapped in brown wood with grooves on the body who showed classic impression. This guitar uses solid body (which was originally made of mahogany) because the les paul wanted this guitar has sustain 20 seconds. Of course, for wearing the solid body, making this guitar almost 2 times heavier than the guitar in general. There are two humbucker pickup selector switch with three controllers plus two volumes and two tone controls.

There's another hallmark of this guitar, ie the distance between the fingerboard and frets are small, it is easier for us to play fast and melodic melodies that require long range. It has side effects, namely those who fingered big bit difficult to use ... I use this guitar and was lucky I did not see a significant constraint because my finger 'tapering' hahaha.

The design of this guitar may be plain indeed, but the results sound issued truly remarkable in my opinion. Sustain a long a hallmark of this guitar. The combination of solid construction with high beroutput pickup makes it perfect for high-gain sound that has long distorted and shrill-toot (maybe this is the reason why this guitar is the most sought after by melodian, including me ^_^). Adjectives that might describe the sound output Gibson Les Paul guitar might like this: singing, ringing, stinging, swinging, and 'gunslinging' hehe. This makes the guitar Gibson Les Paul as my first favorite guitar as a melodian.

My history as musician:
well i don't have much to say, i just an ordinary man who loves playing guitar. Sometimes i perform on the stage but it doesn't my real job. I have playing music for 6 years, and guitar 3 years. my friend say i've got some talent but i think it maybe because i just frequently training.
I play guitar and i am a melodian. i love classic rock so much but sometimes i playing from pop until metal hehe

hmm... i don't buy it. i just sometimes go to music store and try to play guitar. but i can make this review because i sometimes borrow it from my friend and use it for perform. well i am not a rich man haha

http://mymusicinstrumentreview.blogspot.com/

it's sound is so beautiful!!! i love it so much, it's so smooth too. a simple way to describe it: ultimate guitar ever!
i'd love so much everything on this guitar except one...

just one, this guitar is so heavy... although it makes longer sustain. yeah every things have disadvantage...

it's very solid and strong too. i give score 10 from 0-10 for it's quality. it's just perfect!!! i never see other guitar that exceed gibson les paul

Advantages:
1. Has incredible sustain.
2. The smaal distance between the fret makes it easier for us to explore the melody.
3. Give the impression of classic and blues in our performance.

Weaknesses:
1. Has above average weight.

my final comment: the most perfect guitar i've ever seen...

I've been playing guitar for 2 years, self-taught, originally playing metal style stuff but quickly got into prog rock and contemporary stuff like blues, Singer/songwriter kinda stuff like Tom Waits Dire Straits and Bruce Springsteen. I'm in a prog rock band mainly playing keyboards but sometimes I have to play guitar so I bought the Goldtop (which I had been admiring for a while) to replace (or add to) my Ibanez RG.

I bought this from GAK.co.uk for £300. Good buy!

I can't find anything wrong with it at all. Fresh out the box it was in tune, and it has stayed in tune. It's not as heavy as you might think and is very very nicely balanced. I love the colour and the P90s are the most versatile pickups I've ever played with. With the four control pots available you can get a nice variety of tone, especially combined with your amplifier's tone controls. I removed the pickguard soon after I got it, just out of preference and it looks very nice both with and without. The best thing though, is that it came fitted with Grover tuners instead of the cheap plastic green ones they normally have! this was a nice surprise. The headstock is a little plain but who cares!?

I saw someone else state that when switching between pickups the rhythm one gave no sound. I had this the first time I switched but then the sound came in and it has stayed there. No problems!

Quality is excellent - it is sturdy and solid, with no loose parts. My Ibanez has a very loose input jack but this one is tight and well fitted. The control pots are perfect and the neck is straight and true, and very well set in. The finish is beautiful ALL OVER.

Excellent guitar, highly recommended. I've never played a Gibson but this thing probably comes damn close, because its the best guitar I've ever played. It's a shame Epiphone don't do a standard LP in this colour because I would have liked to have the traditional Humbuckers. But after trying out the P90s, they easily match the Humbuckers if you find the right setting! Highly recommended, I'd have payed twice what I did for it.

Well, it's an ALRIGHT beginner's guitar. not bad for learning. And it looks actually pretty nice.

wow, where do i start.

1 the pickups dont fit very well

2 the action is too high

3 the fret spacing seems a little small

4 it's WAY too heavy.

5. the balance is way off

6 its very easily breakable. you would think for something so heavy that the construction would be pretty solid....NOPE!

7 it comes out of tune every 5 seconds.

It has a beautiful sound, and the whammy bar can produce great effects.

uhm nothing i guess, maybe the greenish color of the tuners :-)

its from 1967, but it seems like new. It's made out of mahogany n has a sunburst texture.

It's my favourite guitar 'till now,you can play any kind of music with it. I jus love it.

I have many guitars, the Orvilles i have amaze me in the quality of construction and attention to fit and finish. Orvilles have the long neck tenon, the same as the historic, custom shop les pauls. This is the same methord of neck joint as used in the constuction of the celebrated 57-60 model les pauls that now are some of the most sought after and expensive guitars ever made...enough said!!!

Gibson now make guitars as good as any they have ever made, thats my opinion, i belive the guitars made now are even better than the classic 1957-1960 model les pauls, but for those who play night after night and cant afford a Gibbo, get one of these while you still can, i bought five, they are all amazing guitars and they are getting hard to get even in Japan, if one does appear in a shop over there they are snapped up, Ebay sellers are finding it very hard to keep up supply, prices have gone up, if you want one dont wait, thats my addvice....

I paid $275 for it used.

I've played/owned a bunch of different Les Pauls. This is one of the better ones.
It has a perfect balance between , power, tone, and playability.

So far so good; no complaints!

I've heard some people say that Epi's aren't as consistent as Gibsons.

I agree.

However, the construction on this model is flawless.

For those of us who aren't "rolling in dough,"
Epiphone makes a great alternative to higher priced Gibsons.

Nice Work!

Nice Work!

After wanting to learn guitar for so many years the accoustic I bought just didn't do it for me. To boost my spirits I had to go for the best tone and sustain. The Les Paul has proven to be a good choice. I bought it on Ebay for $225. What a bargain! I think it is even a vintage model.

To boost my spirits I had to go for the best tone and sustain available. To play like my favorite rock and metal guitarists.

The volume knob needs replaced. I have about 1/2 range on the full end. I usually leave it up about 3/4 round anyway.

Epiphone has the best Gibson Les Paul imitation of anyone.

Dragonfire Les Paul

I got this guitar for Christmas, and it cost about $250.00.

I love the vintage cherry burst finish. Also, the pickups are very crisp and the action was set low, so the guitar plays like soft butter (smooth). The sustain goes on for days when set up right, and the neck is nice and fast.

I don't like the switch (it clicks when switching between pickups). Also, the finish around the neck is a little sloppy, but the guitar is great otherwise. Also, the pickups are good, but not great. I migh replace them later, but they sound fine for my budget right now.

I love this guitar, and is as good as any Epiphone (in fact, they come out of the same factory). Dragonfire here in Klamath Falls, Oregon will be where I buy my guitars for some time now. Check out their Strats, Teles, and PRS guitars too. I've played them all, and all are AWESOME. The strats and teles are made from Fender parts, too!

The best thing about this guitar is the sound.Because the instrument is so heavy it has a full, crunchy sound to it. It also has great sustain and in my opinion sounds just as good as the Gibson model(not the vintage models though).also the appearance. The finish is extremely shiny and the wood provides an interesting pattern under it.

When I bought the guitar there was some white paint where the neck bolts onbut Igot most of it off. Also the neck volume swith sticks. It's very heavy to but I guess that's why it sounds so great.

The guitar is constructed almost flawlessly. The bolt on neck is great and all the frets are straight. I would say the quality of this guitar is comparable to the Gibsons.

I would reccomend this guitar to anyone looking for a high quality guitar. Even if you have the money to spend on a $3000+ Gibson why bother, spenrd the rest of the money on a strat or a better amp.

k, gettin used to the weight was weird but actually quite quick. sometimes i think cos of a loose connection if u switch to the other oickup it doesnt switch and u get no sound from ur pickup.this rarely happens.not alot else.

it is very well made. pickups well positioned, chrome hardware well placed etc. but the scratchplate seems very poorly carved. like they were rushed for time. if u looked closely u could relegate the scratchplate to the quality of a squier, and thats low!

this guitar is excellent. this pickups can handle distortion, jazzy tones (what it was invented for),blues, everything. it is a thing of beauty, and id rather have it anyday rather than a mexican strat.if u were hardcore giggin then i would suggest to get another workhorse guitar to accompany this.as it can do alot but for hubucker sounds u need a paul or an sg. and for rubbishy tones u need some form of strat. if u wanted to copy hendrix tones u could never do it on this, it would sound too good! this should be used to play blues or jazz but if u love p90's then i would invest in one of these bad boys. seeya

I went guitar shopping around christmas and my parents bought this at a local shop for about 500 canadian plus tax.

I like how the guitar is made of solid mahogony wood and it has a great tone because of this.

There are a few things I dislike such as plastic tuning knobs and the pickups. The pickups sound alright when you're not cranked but they'll squeel pretty bad on you when they are. The weight can be a bit heavy at times if you're not used to a heavy guitar but I don't mind too much. It is heavier then many les pauls. For some people the neck may be too thick also.

It is built pretty sturdy but I found it can chip easily. I have a chip already in the side from who knows what.

I'd pick a Jay Turser Les Paul over an Epiphone les paul simply because of pure Mahagony wood. It makes a beautiful tone and saves you a few hundred bucks over an epiphone. Good guitar for an intermediate player.

Nothing so far.
I had the tuners changed with Grover tuners before I took possession of the guitar. Did the same for my Epiphone SG-400. And it was worth every penny.
The tuners are not a problem only on Epiphone, I once had a genuine Gibson Les Paul Studio and it could not stay in tune...It breaks your heart when you pay 1200 for a guitar and the repairman suggest to change the tuners for Grover...

Top quality! Great finish...at least 1/8 of an inch of clear coat! Great Gibson Alnico-V P-90s designed pick-ups. Beautyfull pearl inlays. No flaws. Could not find a single problem with the construction and quality of this guitar.

I presently own a 1966 Goya 101R, a 1988 Usa Fender Strat HM , an Epiphone SG-400 (Cherry), I once owned a Standard Usa Strat, a Les paul Studio...etc... I have been playing guitar for over 36 years, and I am very pleased with my 2 Epiphones, this Les Paul Goldtop gives me with its P-90 pick-ups the sounds I was missing with my other guitars. And if one day I have to upgrade it with new switches etc...no problem! at the price I paid I will be able to afford it.
Thanks Gibson/Epiphone for a great product!

They are hand made in Italy, set neck solid mahogany, rosewood fingerboard, quality parts, with Kent Armstrong pickups. The fingerboard inlays and Logo are in New Zealand (I think) Abalone green/blue and are exquisite. It has 5 ply binding and sounds fantastic. Believe me this is no cheap guitar. It sings without being plugged in, an amp only amplifies this sound. The pickup are good anyway but it has a lovely low action and just feels right, whilst being beautiful to look at. No I don't work for them and would buy another tommorow if I lost this. This is a keeper and I thank Jim Reed and the importer very much.

As above, but it is just nice to pick up and play. What more can you ask in a guitar. This guitar feels and plays well above its price.

If their is anything, I would have liked an ebony fingerboard rather than rosewood, which is a little light, but this is being picky. Also would have liked a abolone trus rod cover to match the inlays, but I've subsequently purchased one to fit.

Top notch, well above its price range.

This is easy, just buy one and this price they are a bargain. Do not buy anything else at this price as they will not be the same quality.

The pickups are good, but not great. After I got the USA Gibsons A friend of mine was jealous, so I showed him where I got my pickups and he ended up ordering some from world music supply as well. Only he did not get the Gibsons... He got the EMG Zack Wylde set for 199.00 and I hate to admit it, but I like the sound of his a little better. But either way, the epiphone does rock, especially for the price

The guitar is very well built. There are no flaws anywhere that I can find and the action stays consistent!

I am satisfied with both the guitar and world music supply. The service was good and the guitar is more than I expected from an import version of the USA! Dont be surprised some day if the guitars made overseas equal what we make here but at a more affordable price!

It is a pretty decent guitar for a beginner, but once you start to get to know the difference from a good guitar from a bad guitar, it is a big gap. Trust me on this, i made this mistake. Take my advice, if you're planning on buying a guitar for a cheap price that's pretty decent in the looks, dish out another hundred bucks or so and get at least a Epiphone. You will not regret it later.

I wouldn't recommend this guitar for beginners, it seems to have an inability to stay in tune for more than an hour. Also it does rattle quite a bit when played but this is not picked up through an amplifier.

Overall very good, only complaint is the one tuner.

Good guitar for the dollar, but if you are a frail person, you may want to invest in a strap with a large helium balloon attached.
