Fender Deluxe Active Jazz Bass V [1998-2004]

Active 5-string Jazz Bass made in Mexico. Poplar body, maple neck, button Pao Ferro, 21 boxes. 2 Jazz Bass pickups deluxe (model équpant before the American Deluxe Jazz bass), volume, balance, 3-band active EQ. Easel standard mechanical Gotoh.

UTILIZATION

It's a Jazz Bass: round super comfortable, ergonomic body, timeless design. The active EQ is effective, we can get all the sounds you want. Access to acute (18th box and) a little questionable, but I do not really useful ... Fairly substantial weight (5 kg), provide a comfortable strap.

SOUNDS

Fender type sound, you either like or not like it ... The active EQ overcomes some limitations of passive, but this is not an Ibanez SR, wood sounds more as electronics.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 4 years, and it is a joy every day. At the time of choice, was played between it and a Yamaha RBX 765, but I finally fell for the Fender, the most expensive but it's a Fender ... Is a must in the range (limited!) Of 5-string middle class

21/22 frets YMMV.
5 knobs: volume - microphone balance - low / high (stacked) - medium
2 pickups Fender neck + bridge
Active pickups so 9V battery inside. It seems that the American version is 18V.

UTILIZATION

The handle C Fender ... Must try and form his own idea. The first time I tried this bass I did not like the stick that I found too big and not enough to handle.
I changed my mind since I (re) tried the Fender. Before I played on Ibanez, and when I changed to JB I unlocked the handle on the quality that ultimately is not so bad (certainly nimble enough to move a set list without regard to the first use !). On the other hand it sounds good even beyond the 12th fret.
I regret the 24 frets of my other bass but eventually got used to it.

SOUNDS

We feel no Fender signature doubts, especially since the knobs really affect the sound, there's only adjust (EQ is the boost / cut).
My Fender is plugged into an Orange Terror Bass 500 SWR WorkingPro on a 4 * 10 ", and there's not to say I love the sound of this bass, even without my EHX Metaphors. The slap sound is incredible, c ' is the same for the game to the finger. I suppose that this pick is not to be yucky but I do not play as fingers up to you to test.

OVERALL OPINION

This bass is not bass perfect, but it will be very close. I use it for 2 months now and i like.
My other bass is an Ibanez SR-505 (5 string too) that I love also including the handling of the handle. However, the sound of the Ibanez is really below the Fender is indisputable.

I do it again this choice in a heartbeat.
