Sandberg (Bass) California MM 5

The knobs operate respectively the volume, balance pickups, treble, midrange and bass.
Additionally there is a selector single / double coil and the volume knob is a push / pull active passive.

UTILIZATION

The neck is great, it's a 5 string, so it has a handle large enough. In many brands, it often reduces the gap between the strings, which undermines, in my view, the comfort of jeu.Ici, apart from 4 Strings is respected, and the back of the neck is fairly flat, what is special but very nice.
I had previously a Deluxe Precision 5 string, and the log of wood that acted as race, almost causing me some cramps ...
Ergonomics are good, there is the Jazz Bass as it has defined effective, I'm a fan of this kind of low since adolescence, therefore, it suits me.
Access to treble is perfect no problems with the lower horn, you can drag to the extreme treble
no problem.

SOUNDS

Musically, this bass has asked me time to adapt. Indeed, it looks just like a Jazz Bass, but it appears rather strong in his personality to use.
You feel closer to the grain of a Music Man, or sometimes Warwick, in the sound, strong and virile a grain, a little compressé.Les controls sculpt the sound very well and gives a variety in pallet allowing to pass easily from rock to jazz to reggae and funk sounds and always keeping his personality.
Unlike some brands, sometimes famous, it inspires a feeling of strength, consistency and power throughout the register. It can take swift chorus with a grain very "fat" even in acute or accompany saving his notes to enjoy the full roundness.
Surprisingly for a new instrument it may sound more vintage as "foil" more than a Precision Blade for example.
I played with a Roland Micro Cube at home, just a Radial DI onstage or MarkBass HT 503, with various speakers (4 * 10 Hartke, 15 "markbass), I use a lot of effects with, MuTron , Morley Wah, Compressor BBE, Boss Chorus, Big Muff etc. ... anything goes!
The fault that he could find would have a sound more "hard" a jazz bass, without the side a bit soft, but if he can play anything with always a trick to it " !

OVERALL OPINION

I have now for a year and a half, and I'm endorsement by them, both because their political humanly and politically right for me (they are super nice, and it does not cost very much for the handmade), because after shot with a Deluxe Precision I wanted to change a bit and try a different sound. I also have a Jazz Bass 71 and a fretless instrument maker, and I have several basses before this one.
