The US manufacturer Eureka Sound introduces the Baitar, a real electric guitar that features one or two bass strings.
The Baitar is available in two versions; the OBM1 with a single low E bass string and the OMB2 with bass strings for the low E and A, the other strings being standard for guitar. The solidbody instrument has a 25.5” scale length and a standard tuning (EADGBE). It plays like a regular guitar but the bass strings allow for an extra octave.
The Baitar is currently in V2, with the following specifications:
- Double cutaway alder body
- Maple neck with a thinner shaper than the 1st generation
- Maple fingerboard with black Dot inlays
- 25.5” scale length
- New reverse headstock
- HipShot Ultralite Tuner for the bass strings and Griplock locking tuning machines for the guitar strings
- Plastic 3D printed nut
- 4 EMG 6SW passive rounded pickups on the OMB1, three on the OMB2
- 2 concentrical knobs to control the volume (outer) and tone (center) separately for the bass and guitar parts
- Mini switch and PCB special for mono and split-stereo operations
- New Schaller Roller adjustable bridge
- Gator hardshell included
The price of these new Baitar is $1499. Eureka Sound adds that the instruments are currently only available in the US. More info at www.eurekasound.com.
